Welcome to our August newsletter!
The big kahuna, (Mr WA President) Jim Frater ACS is busy off the grid working away and has asked me to fill in for this month.
Can I start by thanking everyone for their engagement and participation at our recent Camera Movement event. It was wonderful to see so many of you turn out on a chilly Friday evening.
Our committee is busy planning our next event, but as we’re all working individuals – sometimes best laid plans don’t pan out.
If you’ve considered being a larger part of the society now is the time. We’re calling our BGM for the WA Branch for Saturday the 9
th of September. Time and location will advised soon. We’re always keen to have more help on the committee, so if you think you can give some time to the WA Branch, please reach out to us at
committee.wa@cinematographer.net.au
Nominations for committee positions will close a week prior to the meeting on the 2nd of September. Unfortunately we’ll be unable to accept nominations on the day.
Award season is now upon us. Society members are invited and encouraged to put their best work forward for judging. Entries close on the 23
rd of August, so don’t miss out! Remember you must be financial if you wish to enter our 2023 Annual Awards for Cinematography we'd hate for you to miss out. The website will not allow unfinancial members to submit.
The 43rd annual awards are on Saturday October 28 at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Hindley Street. These awards include pre dinner drinks, 3 course meal, entertainment and we have a fabulous Guest of Honour who is a legend of cinematography coming in for it and they will also present a special screening & Q&A on the Friday night before the Awards so save both dates in your diaries.
That’s all for now,
Keep shooting, stay sharp!
Blake Waldock
WA ACS Branch Vice President
