Come along and see all the entries from the Vic Tas Awards for Cinematography

This is our inaugural ACS Victoria and Tasmania Awards Film Festival.
In response to your requests to see more of the work from the entries into the Annual ACS Vic Tas Awards for Cinematography, we made a festival!
Each year there is so much great work submitted by members that we rarely have the chance to watch in detail. ACS Victoria has been asked for the opportunity to see more of this cinematography.
Here it is.
At the Memo Music Hall venue, we have created a sensational mini film festival showcasing the amazing works of Victorian and Tasmanian cinematographers where we will be screening most of the entries into the 2016 awards. The festival contains about 150 video entries. *Entries of 4 minutes duration or less will be shown in their entirety and longer entries will screen substantial excerpts.
We will have 4 large Full HD Monitors simultaneously screening the entries sorted by category. Head phones will be provided for audio.
A contents menu will be on display at each screen listing the entries and the order in which they will play - so you can pick and choose and wander between the screens. Bring your family, friends and colleagues and show them your great work! And come down to see the work of others. The quality is incredible.
The bar will be open for drinks and snack purchases.
Entry is free to all.
*Disclaimer: Some works are prohibited from public screening and can not be shown. (Contact ACS if you have a prohibited entry and have not been asked permission). Some entries were provided on media that could not be accessed to add to the videos or are not suitable for 2D screening and will not be screened.
Please Note. Our event may contain video unsuitable for under 18's. We recommend parents and guardians to be discerning in allowing children to attend this event.

The 50th Annual Victorian and Tasmanian ACS Awards for Cinematography 2016 - Tickets On Sale

We are fully in the midst of Springtime and that always means one thing. Yes. Awards are coming.
We had a fantastic selection of entries into the Vic Tas awards and judging has been completed. We are always so impressed with the quality of work produced by the cinematographers of our two States and this year is no exception.
The judges were Garry Phillips ACS, John Wheeler ACS, David Eggby ACS, Ron Johanson OAM ACS and Warwick Field ACS with some categories judged also by Brendan Lavelle ACS and Laszlo Baranyai HSC ACS.

This year will be different.

Our MC is Brian Nankervis

This year the awards will have a totally new format. Be prepared. We have been listening to the feedback from members attending previous awards evenings and we are extremely excited to bring you a real celebration of our 50th year as the ACS Victorian Branch and the combined Victorian and Tasmanian Awards for Cinematography Presentation.
Hosted by the brilliant Brian Nankervis as our MC, the night will be energy packed and hilarious. The Awards presentation will be interweaved in a streamlined program that will include video announcements of the categories and winners. Among it will be the presentation of our newest Accredited Members, a very special Guest of Honour address and a few words from our State and National Presidents.
Don't Miss this two part awards event.
FILM FESTIVAL | AWARDS NIGHT
See entrant's works during the day at our 4 screen FREE film festival at the Memo between 11am - 4pm, Sat Nov 26th. Awards ticket not required for the film festival. Simply come along, bring a friend and enjoy the entries.
THEN
Join us at the prestigious Awards at 6.30pm in your party gear ready for a great night of awards, entertainment and socialising. Until Late.

Ticket pricing is down.

This year sees a 30% reduction in ticket price. We have heard some members say they felt like they were paying for food and drink they didn't really want. So we are providing delicious cocktail style food and a complimentary welcome drink plus one drink token. If you'd like a drink after that you can buy another from the bar where they have a good selection of beers, wines and spirits at reasonable prices. The result? Lower ticket pricing. Please Note: BYO Alcohol is strictly prohibited under the Licensing Act for this venue and will NOT be permitted.

The business

Of course we are all going because of the important stuff.
The presentation of the Awards for Cinematography over 18 categories with plaques for Bronze, Silver and Gold Winners. And culminating with the prestigious Judges' Choice Award.
Our National ACS President, Ron Johanson OAM ACS will present this year's Accredited Members with their ACS pins and certificates.

Guest of Honour - David Eggby ACS

We are privileged on our 50th Anniversary to have a Guest of Honour who truly depicts everything it is to be a successful Victorian cinematographer. A talented professional who has worked over most of the years that our branch has been around and is recognised both on our shores and internationally. Mr David Eggby ACS has proven that cinematography is an ever-evolving art form with new possibilities and technical capabilities with which we must remain fully comprehensive in order to continue to work at the highest level and still bring truth to the screen with story.

Catch up with old friends. Meet new friends. Make an important connection.

Frequently we have been asked by members at the awards for more time to catch up with colleagues, network, celebrate and party.
We're doing it.
All evening there will be gourmet hand-around platters. Moving away from the sit down meal that took so much time, we will be wined and dined over 4 hours with delectable treats. The result of this is we will complete the presentation earlier and have more time afterwards.

You said you want to dance.

Get to your feet to the Latin beat of Steve Purcell and The Pearly Shells.

With regret, Nicky Bomba has had to meet the call of a giant gig in Japan in the same week as our awards. We released him with our blessing and Nicky has pulled some strings and arranged for the amazing Steve Purcell and The Pearly Shells to play for us and get us up on the door floor. Highly acclaimed musician and vocalist, Steve has also been a guest performer of Bustamento along with Nicky, so expect an incredible performance.

Our new venue, the Memo Music Hall is happy for us to stay late! And Acland Street is outside the door for those who want to keep going into the wee hours.
