SHINE, one of the most celebrated and successful films in Australian cinema history, will have a special return cinema season to mark the 20th anniversary of its Australian release.
Ronin Films are very generously offering current members of the Australian Cinematographers Society VIC double passes to the Melbourne screening, taking place at The Astor Theatre at 7.30pm, Tuesday 16th August, with a Q&A featuring director Scott Hicks, producer Jane Scott, screenwriter Jan Sardi and composer David Hirschfelder and, just announced, Geoffrey Rush will also attend.
SHINE is the true story of pianist David Helfgott, his turbulent relationship with his father, his breakdown and eventual redemption through the love of his wife, Gillian. It is a story rich in music and emotion - the cast, led by Geoffrey Rush as the adult David and Noah Taylor as the adolescent David, give career best performances.
SHINE became an international phenomenon scoring seven Oscar nominations, five Golden Globe nominations and nine BAFTA nominations amongst many other international and local awards.
