Awards Entry Opens August 15th

It's time again to start thinking about what you will be entering into this year's 50th ACS Vic Tas Awards for Cinematography 2016. A very special year when we celebrate our half century.

You will be able to submit your media and entry forms between August 15th 2016 and 5pm AEST September 9th 2016. Late entries will NOT be accepted. Remember last year you promised yourself you wouldn't leave it till the last minute? Well this year you can keep that promise by preparing now.

Before submitting please read thoroughly the terms and conditions of entry. Strict rules apply to media type, formats, delivery etc.,

Several changes have been made since last year in relation to categories so be sure to enter into the correct category.

Victoria and Tasmania have different options for uploading entries than other Branches, so please note these as entry options. We also accept unlocked DCP for Feature length submissions.

The entry form site will be opening soon and we will advise when this is available for you. In the meantime star collating your media and checking its suitability.

The Awards will be held in Melbourne on Saturday November 26th 2016 and we have a special event in store to mark our 50th.

Visit the link below to find out all the details; they are quite straight forward but you do ned to read through them. Sadly each year we have entries that are not judged because the entrant failed to follow the instructions.

Are you right?

It is the responsibility of you, the member, to ensure you are in the correct membership level such as Student or Active or Full. Your current membership level is shown on your renewal invoice and also on the website.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO MAKE SURE YOUR LEVEL IS CORRECT

Student Members who are no longer students can be disqualified in the Awards and denied access to ACS Events. When you finish school, college or university you need to change to an Active Member.
An Active Member is a person who is a cinematographer but does not meet the qualifications of full member including (but not limited to) camera operators, focus pullers, clapper loaders, data wranglers.

Active Members who have been active as a professional cinematographer for 5 years should change to Full Membership. In order to apply for Accreditation, an ACS Member must have been a Full Member for at least 3 years before they can apply. It is quite common for members to remain as an Active Member for several years and then not be able to apply for accreditation because they did not change to Full membership when they qualified. In this case regardless of how many years you have been shooting, you will have to wait 3 years before applying.
A Full Member is a person who is and has been active as a professional cinematographer in the motion picture or television industry for a period of at least five years and is over the age of twenty-one.

Contact the ACS Victorian Branch if you wish to change your membership level or have any questions about the levels of membership.

Your Membership Renewal is NOW DUE

By now you should have received your membership renewal by email. The ACS membership runs from July 1st to June 30th.
2016/17 fees were due by July 1st 2016. Thank you to those many members who have already renewed their membership.
If you have not yet paid, please do so immediately as it takes up much of the time of our volunteer committee to chase up overdue subscriptions. Additionally if you are not financial you cannot participate in the awards, accreditation process or attend any free ACS events - and you wouldn't want that, would you?

Please contact ACS Victoria if you have not received your renewal notice or have any enquiries.
It is also the perfect time to check your membership level and decide if it is still the correct level for you. We can reissue an invoice should you wish to change, or invoice with an adjustment fee if you have already paid this year and wish to change level.
