St Kilda Film Festival Events with ACS

As you may know, the St Kilda Film Festival is underway screening short films from Australia and around the world.
ACS Victoria is a proud supporter of SKFF and we sponsor the Cinematography Award along with Black Magic Design.
Hopefully you made it down last Saturday to the St Kilda Town Hall to say Hi to us at our ACS Stand and to participate in the Lighting Workshop where we demonstrated ways to light and shoot a Stella Artois beer product shot.
Many thanks to Cameraquip for supplying an Arri Alexa, Cooke S4's and monitor for the workshop.
Also a huge thanks to Laurie Fish Lighting for bringing down the BIG truck and providing us with everything we could need for the workshop. Thanks Laurie and Jarred. We were ably assisted in the camera department by Adam Russ and Will Sheridan.

COMING UP
On Tuesday night, May 26th at 8pm we are conducting our "Something Old, Something New" Lens Discussion Panel. It will feature prominent and experienced DP's who have shot with both Anamorphic and Spherical Lenses. The cinematographers include Ellery Ryan ACS, David Eggby ACS, Garry Richards, Adam Howden, Warwick Field and no doubt many others among the audience. Also on the panel are lens technicians and experts from Australia's leading camera/lens rental companies including Cameraquip, Lemac, The Vision House, Panavision and GearHead.
ACS Victoria has shot a very informative lens test comparison on Arri Alexa using many types of anamorphic and spherical lenses which we will screen at the panel. Panavision will also provide some tests from their Primo 70 series lenses.

Participants are invited to join the discussion which we expect will offer many varied viewpoints regarding lens options for today's cinematography. If you ever wanted more detail about lenses and why particular lenses are used on particular shoots, this panel is a MUST for you.

The "Something Old, Something New" Lens Discussion Panel is a FREE EVENT and open to All Ages. No RSVP is necessary. Spaces are limited. First Come, Best Dressed.

WHERE: St Kilda Town Hall, Cnr St Kilda Rd and Carlisle Sts, St Kilda VIC
WHEN: 7.45pm for an 8pm Start, Tuesday May 26

"The Heckler" Screening and Q&A Thursday May 28th at Backlot

Join us on Thursday to see the excruciatingly funny indy feature, "The Heckler" from writer/producer Steve Mitchell and director Ben Plazzer.
This film has enjoyed great responses from its screenings in Melbourne and Sydney during recent festivals and is now looking at international release.
The Heckler was filmed on a very tight budget and called on the talents and expertise of those involved to produce a film of this quality under strict limitations. The Heckler proves it can be done and we will be joined by the films cinematographer Paul Hughes along with director Ben Plazzer, Writer Steve Mitchell and possibly other key crew and cast to explain how they went about making the movie.
The film will be screened from DCP at Backlot Studios

Synopsis: A self-obsessed comedian on the fast track to fame, has his body hijacked by the spirit of a jealous heckler and must find a way to reclaim it before the imposter ruins his career forever.
