Greig Fraser ACS ASC

Whilst in Melbourne shooting "Lion" with director Garth Davis, Greig has kindly offered to take time out of his busy schedule to share the beautifully photographed "Foxcatcher" directed by Bennett Miller and starring Steve Carell, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo.
Greig started his career in Melbourne and has achieved incredible success in recent years in the USA and is now based in LA, where he has become one of the most in-demand and respected DPs for Features and Commercials. He has been accredited by both the ACS and the American Society of Cinematographers as a result of his wonderful body of work and artistic eye. All this in a relatively short space of time due to dedication, passion and hard work. Any one who has been fortunate enough to work alongside Greig knows he is a powerhouse and inspiration to those working with him.
Greig's Feature film credits include Bright Star (for which he one a Milli as ACS Cinematographer of the Year in 2011, and an AFI and BIFA win), Last Ride, The Boys Are Back, Let Me In, Killing Them Softly, Snow White and The Huntsman, Zero Dark Thirty, Foxcatcher and The Gambler. He is currently shooting Lion in Australia with a Star Wars project coming up called Rogue One. He is also renowned for Music Video and TVC work. Greig's many awards and nominations are too numerous to list. Visit his IMDB or website for the full story.
Immediately after the screening of Foxcatcher, Greig will join us for a Q&A about the film and his illustrious career so far. This is a great opportunity to learn about his approach and techniques in shooting world class cinema.

John Du Pont (Steve Carell) and Mark Shultz (Channing Tatum) engage in the gym

ABOUT THE FILM:
Based on actual events, FOXCATCHER is a gripping and profoundly American story of fragile men who pinned their hopes for love and redemption on a desperate obsession for greatness that was to end in tragedy.
FOXCATCHER tells the story of Olympic Gold Medal-winning wrestler Mark Schultz (Tatum), who sees a way out from the shadow of his more celebrated wrestling brother Dave (Ruffalo) and a life of poverty when he is summoned by eccentric multi-millionaire John du Pont (Carell) to move onto his estate and train for the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Desperate to gain the respect of his disapproving mother, du Pont begins "coaching" a world-class athletic team and, in the process, lures Mark into dangerous habits, breaks his confidence and drives him into a self-destructive spiral.
FOXCATCHER is a psychological drama directed by Academy Award nominee Bennett Miller (Moneyball) and starring Golden Globe winner Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, Academy Award nominee Mark Ruffalo, Academy Award winner Vanessa Redgrave and Sienna Miller. The film was written by E. Max Frye and Academy Award nominee Dan Futterman.

Foxcatcher was nominated for 5 Academy Awards.

In anticipation of this being a popular event, ACS Victoria is implementing a different ticketing procedure for Foxcatcher. Unfortunately due to "no-shows" by some members at free events, we will be charging a small fee for ACS Members. The good news is the entry fee will include a Bar Voucher given to ACS members only upon arrival at Backlot. The voucher is redeemable for one drink or snack at the bar (not exceeding $10 value) prior to the show. So ACS Members will only be out of pocket a dollar or two. We hope this will encourage all ticket holders to attend and not restrict access to the limited seating for those really eager to come to the event.
