Please ensure if you are nominating another member that 1)  They are a current financial member; and, 2)  You have discussed with them that they are willing to commit to the position.

Download the ASC Victoria Committee Nomination Form »

If you wish to nominate yourself, please enter your name in the space provided and then tick the box you wish to nominate yourself for. If you wish to nominate another member, please enter your name in the space provided and then tick the relevant nomination box and add the name of the member you wish to nominate. If you wish to nominate yourself plus others for any of the positions then please enter your name in the space provided followed by ticking the relevant box plus the names of the people you wish to nominate (including, here, your own name for the position you wish to nominate for).

If you feel strongly that you wish to vote but cannot attend the AGM then please contact Adam Russ for a proxy form.

The committee is run entirely by committed volunteers and comprises (usually) 11 monthly meetings. If you feel that you are unable to attend at least 9 of the 11 meetings (either because of distance to travel to the meetings or known work commitments) it is advisable not to nominate for a position. Aside from the meetings, the committee is actively involved in several events that require the dedication of the group to ensure the event’s success. These include (for example) the setting up and manning of promotional booths at various events; the annual awards night (and run-up to it); the monthly screenings at Backlot plus many, many, more ways to become actively involved within the society.

All age groups, membership categories and fields are encouraged to become involved.

The closing date for nominations is Thursday 7th August 2014 at midnight. Any nominations received after this time will be void. Please email the completed form to the ACS Victoria email address below or mail it to PO Box 2023, South Melbourne VIC 3205 (to be in the PO Box by COB Thursday 7th August 2014).

All current committee and executive members are advised that they will need to submit a nomination for themselves if they wish to continue with the committee over the next year.

ACS ACCREDITATION screenings will take place at the ACS HQ on September 12 & 13

ACS Accreditation is considered the highest honour that can be bestowed on an ACS member.

Last year, 17 Accreditation Applications submissions were assessed over 13th and 14th of September 2013 with 7 gaining accreditation.

The next Accreditation assessments will take place at our National HQ in September 2014.

The Accreditation Panel may grant Accreditation to an ACS member whose overall standard of cinematography is consistently high, or is outstanding in a specialised field and who has been a Full Member of the Society for a minimum of three years.

Full members should apply to the Accreditation Committee, through their State or Territory Branch President, and submit a comprehensive cross section of at least six or more complete works for assessment.

The Accreditation Committee will consist of ten accredited members (from as many States and genres as possible) and consideration is given to composition, operating, camera movement, lensing, exposure and the standard of lighting - both interior and exterior.

Consideration will also be given to the cinematic approach in relation to content. The work submitted must demonstrate more than just professional competence. Creativity, consistency and aesthetic innovation will be some of the qualities looked for by the panel.

Accreditation by the Society is deemed an honour and an Accredited Cinematographer shall have the right to use the letters ACS after his or her name whilst full financial membership is maintained.

Every successful Accredited member will be presented with a certificate bearing their name and an accreditation number along with an ACS Accreditation pin. The certificate always remains the property of the Society. Should the Accredited member become un-financial and their membership lapse, the certificate must be returned to the National Executive and the person may no longer use the ACS suffix after their name.

An Accreditation application fee of $220 inc GST is to be paid with an entrants submission. In the event of a member failing to gain Accreditation, after a period of 12 months but within 2 years, they may reapply once without having to repay the application fee. It will be necessary to submit a new application and a revised submission. After the 3 year period they can again reapply but will have to pay another application fee

Application is now open, but will close on August 30. So if you have been a Full member for 3 years, you are eligible to apply for Accreditation. Should you require any information please contact National President, Ron Johanson president@austcine.org.au or Victorian Branch President, Warwick Field, vic.president@cinematographer.net.au
