**Special Members-ONLY offer from Liquid Architecture - Screenings

One of our hard-working Victorian ACS committee members has secured this incredible deal for ACS Members-ONLY.

Liquid Architecture is an arts festival that this year will be hosting two film screenings. They would like to offer ACS members a special 25% discount to two upcoming screening events.

Liquid Architecture has been presenting festival programming for 14 years in Australia, and deals mainly with sound and scores. They have a range of Australian and International artists presenting works each year.

Tickets are $15 Adult and $12 Concession normally. They would like to offer a 25% discount for ACS members, through the Promotional Code: ACSMEMBER. The code is entered at the end of the booking screen, at the payment point.
Members MUST have their current membership card ready to present at the cinema.

ACS Members would need to book online via the website links below.

The details of the screenings are:

Dziga Vertov’s Man with a Movie Camera (1929)
with new original score by Pierre Henry (France)
DATE: Friday 6 September 7:00pm – 8:30pm
VENUE: SAB Cinema, RMIT Swanston Academic Building (SAB), Street Level, Building 80, 445 Swanston Street, Melbourne VIC 3000

DESCRIPTION: This playful film is at once a documentary of a day in the life of the Soviet Union, a documentary of the filming of said documentary, and a depiction of an audience watching the film. Even the editing of the film is documented. We often see the cameraman who is purportedly making the film, but we rarely, if ever, see any of the footage he seems to be in the act of shooting!
The Screening event will consist of: Dziga Vertov’s Man with a Movie Camera (1929) with an original and new score by Pierre Henry – Running Time 68 minutes
Please note: the artist is not present at the Screening. Latecomers will not be permitted entry unless there is a suitable break in the program.

Walter Ruttmann Berlin, Symphony of a Great City (1927)
with original score by Pierre Henry (France)
DATE: Thursday 5 September 7:00pm – 8:30pm
VENUE: SAB Cinema, RMIT Swanston Academic Building (SAB), Street Level, Building 80, 445 Swanston Street, Melbourne VIC 3000

DESCRIPTION: A train speeds through the country on its way to Berlin, then gradually slows down as it pulls into the station. It is very early in the morning, about 5:00 AM, and the great city is mostly quiet. But before long there are some signs of activity, and a few early risers are to be seen on the streets. Soon the new day is well underway – it’s just a typical day in Berlin, but a day full of life and energy.

The screening event will consist of:
A. Walter Ruttmann’s Weekend – sound work for radio (1930)
B. Walter Ruttmann’s Berlin: Symphony of a Great City (1927) with an original and new score by Pierre Henry – Running Time 74 minutes
Please note: the artist is not present at the Screening. Latecomers will not be permitted entry unless there is a suitable break in the program.
