Talented Victorian comedian Annie Louey will be returning this year as our MC. Annie is known for her irreverent style but also the kind of mischievous charm that means she frequently gets away with it, albeit by the thinnest of margins. Annie has been featured on Channel 10’s The Project, ABC’s China Tonight, Channel 31’s Rediscover Victoria and has worked as a writer on the ABC's Rosehaven.
Our Guest of Honour will be renowned Victorian director Jeffrey Walker. Walker is a multi-award winning film and television director, whose projects include Modern Family, Lambs of God, The Portable Door, Ali’s Wedding, Jack Irish and Riot
For the past two decades, Jeffrey has helmed major international projects working with some of the biggest names on the planet.

Jeffrey’s latest film, produced by The Jim Henson Company, is The Portable Door - a wildly creative fantasy film starring two-time Oscar winner, Christoph Waltz, and Sam Neill.

Shotclass - On-Set Data Management course

Special rate for ACS members if booked by this Saturday November 18th!

ACS Sponsor ShotClass is presenting an event on the 2nd of December which will be of great interest to members: an on-set data wrangling course presented by the data guru himself Bradley Andrew.

Take advantage of this ‘one-dayer’ to learn all about data management from the guru himself, Bradley Andrew. Deep dive into everything from the role of the Data Wrangler to working on different types of productions, with various software and workflows. Learn back up protocols and troubleshooting issues. Brad is the person many other professional data wranglers refer to for ‘best industry practice’.

What is the benefit of doing this Intensive?

Having the professional and expert skills of data wrangling and media management makes you more employable and attractive to productions in the role of 2nd AC or Data Wrangler. The daily rates are higher and you will earn rental on your data kit. Crew with deficient data skills are quickly revealed and make productions very nervous. This class will validate you as having industry leading knowledge. That means more paying jobs.

What to expect:

  • A variety of different professional digital cameras and media types to work with
  • Hands-on use of software and camera/media processes
  • (Optional but recommended) BYO laptop with some data management software installed (free or trial versions is OK). You will be advised what to load before the class.
  • Full and detailed explanation of processes, software and equipment usage
  • Hands-on practice data wrangling and feedback on your methods
  • Handouts to take with you so you can review the day
  • Participants who attend the entire class will receive a signed Certificate of Completion

There is no application process for this course, so ShotClass suggests you make your own appraisal as to whether the course is suitable for you.
