Sometimes we just need a little help from members.....
As you may be aware, the St Kilda Film Festival is about to kick off and promises a feast of screenings and events for all of us. The SKFF runs from May 23rd - June 1st. It is celebrating 30 years this year. The ACS has a long history with the St Kilda Film Festival and it offers a great opportunity for us to get exposure to attendees of the festival. In particular on Saturday May 25 the festival is running an event for the entire film industry called The Big Picture, which is a forum for short film makers and an industry open day (See the link below). The ACS has been offered to have a stand at the event which we are very keen to accept. It is vital we maintain a presence at these type of industry events so cinematographers and associated colleagues can keep in contact with us or join the society. So here is the small print: We are struggling to find people among our committee who can attend at our stand because by misfortune May 25th is also the day of our National Awards in Canberra. Several of us are attending the Awards and, more importantly, AGM the following day where we are tabling some urgent matters to improve the society. WE NEED HELP FROM YOU. We have one or two committee members who can come along but we need some more helpers, especially those more experienced, long-standing members who know the value of the ACS. It is not hard. You don't need to do anything or know anything in particular. It is only requires a friendly smile and handing out a form if someone wants to join. Can you please help? We do most things quietly in the background as volunteers here at ACS and occasionally need some assistance and you are the perfect people to help. The event runs from 11am- 4pm on Sat May 25 down at the gorgeous Astor Theatre, and there are heaps of other industry groups and guilds there so it'll be entertaining and informative. You can wander around a bit and check it out as well. If we get a few on board we may only need you for an hour or two in shifts. Bring a fellow ACS member along for company. Please let us know when you could come.
