The 2020 2nd AC Course Wrap-Up
The Victorian Branch of the ACS has had a busy start to 2020 with the running of our annual 2nd AC course. It is the 6th time we’ve run this very popular course and it was once again a great success. For those not familiar with it, we have a class of just 10 students who we train in the essential duties of a 2nd AC.
The course is held over 9 days and we are generously hosted by some of Melbourne’s top camera rental houses. This year we are very thankful for the support of The Vision House, Cameraquip, Panavision, Gearhead, Lemac and VA Hire for hosting us.
During the course the students learn about marking actors, slating, camera department paperwork, assisting the 1st AC and the many other duties which a great 2nd AC needs to know.
We were very fortunate to also have some very experienced film industry pros come in and give their insights and advice to the students. 1st AC’s Geoff Skillbeck, Cameron Morley, Shellyce Cameron-Ryan and Meg Perrott, 2nd AC’s Rachel Sieger and Bradley Andrew, and Sound Recordist Nick Godkin. We are very thankful for the time these people gave and their valuable insight and advice.
We’d like to once again thank the rental houses, the lecturers and of course our fantastic group of students.
