Ellery Ryan ACS is one of Australia’s most highly regarded Cinematographers. Starting his career back in 1975, Ellery worked as a DP for Fred Schepisi’s Film House shooting commercials, before going freelance and travelling the world shooting TVCs, Feature films, TV Movies and Mini series.

Ellery has won multiple awards for his work over the years. He received the ACS' coveted Golden Tripod award in 1999 for "Dead Letter Office", and he has won the AACTA (AFI) award for Best Cinematography twice, for 1995's "Angel Baby" and, of course, 1992's "Spotswood".

Next Tuesday 26th March we are pleased to be presenting a special screening of “Spotswood”, which has been recently remastered from the 35mm negative. Following the screening there will be an exclusive Q&A session with Ellery. Come along and put your questions to one of Australia's legendary DOPs.

Hearing Ellery speak about the art of Cinematography is a real treat, because he is also a well-regarded teacher. He has lectured extensively on cinematography and film making for institutions such as the AFTRS, the Victorian College of the Arts, Deakin University, Swinburne University, Griffith University, the Kodak Workshop Program, Open Channel and the Summer School at Melbourne University.
