ACS TASMANIA PRESENTS

'Push Day' and 'The Last Devil'

Combined Screening with Q&A

Join local ACS members, Fraser Johnston and Nick Hayward as they show and discuss these two locally produced Wildlife and Nature Documentaries.

Simon Plowright and Nick Hayward have for many years filmed wild Tasmanian devils on the remote west coast.  As the DFTD encroached this pocket of devils remained disease free.  Simon and Nick wanted to tell the devils story, before the disease removed the opportunity to film them in the wild.

Using a 'deep lighting' technique, developed over a number of years, where the forest is lit more in the style of drama, rather than doc, these two cinematographers went out into the bush for over 2 years to shoot this 50-minute documentary - The Last Devil.

Fraser Johnston is a Hobart based Cinematographer and Producer.  He joined cave diver Stephen Fordyce and his support team on a journey into the terrifying world of vertical caving and sump diving.

Push Day is a 22-minute documentary that follows the team as they push the known limits of Australia's deepest cave, and at the same time push themselves as far as they can go.

The team reflects on what draws them into the dark depths of the earth, and what it takes to go to these un-explored places.
