A Month of Sundays Screening / Q&A Date Change

Due to work commitments we have had to change A Month of Sundays screening & Q&A at the Mercury Cinema, now on August 8. Any bookings already made we be transferred to the new date - you don't need to rebook.

The talented DoP Mark Wareham ACS is coming especially to Adelaide to present a Q&A after the screening of this wonderful local production.

Mark has won many ACS awards including 3 National Gold Tripods. AMoS was not a big budget feature and was shot over a 4 week schedule so come and hear how Mark approached this film with such constraints.

ACS & ASE members free (Bookings are still essential).
$10 for other screen guild members (e.g. AWG, SPA, ADG, AACTA) and MRC members and students.
General Public $15.

SAFC Call for Attachments - Feature Film projects

This could interest a few of our members.

DO YOU WANT TO WORK IN THE SOUTH AUSTRALIAN FILM INDUSTRY? Here’s your chance!

The South Australian Film Corporation, on behalf of TWO feature films currently in pre-production, invites you to apply for a 5-6 week attachment to the following crew roles:

FEATURE FILM 1
Art Department Set Dresser and Buyer (approx: 1 Aug – 9 Sept)
Onset Camera Assistant (29 Aug – 7 Oct)
Production Accountant (part time 25 July - 15 Oct)

FEATURE FILM 2
Onset Video Split (28 July – 2 Sept)

The SAFC Crew Attachment Scheme aims to provide film production development opportunities for emerging South Australian screen practitioners who are interested to further their career within the South Australian screen industry. The scheme is designed to address skill gap areas identified within South Australia’s professional crew base.

SA Branch AGM & Quiz Night

Your branch AGM is on Monday August 15 followed by something to eat and a fun quiz night at the cosy Colonist Hotel on The Parade, Norwood.

So if you are keen to help the SA Branch advance please consider joining the committee. Nomination forms are available via the link below. Please note: only Accredited, Full, Active, Life & Retired members are considered as Corporate Members and therefore eligible to nominate and vote for the committee.

The committee meet normally on the 1st Monday of the month 11 times a year. Luckily we get January off!

There are some great prizes on the night including an ACS membership, a $100 Colonist dinner voucher and a copy of The Shadowcatchers.

If you can't get to the AGM you can always register your vote by filling in a Proxy Form also available via the link below.

RSVP is essential so come along the AGM normally only takes 1/2 an hour and it will start at 6:45pm, followed by something to eat and a fun quiz night.

If you want a snack and a drink before the AGM be there by 6:15.

Of course unfinancial members cannot attend or vote at the AGM so if you haven't paid your invoice for your membership fees for 2016 / 2017, you are now way overdue.

Fees were due by June 30. The membership year is July 1 to June 30 so please pay your subs promptly; our volunteers don't want to waste their time chasing tardy payers.

SA / WA Award Entries Open soon

Entry for the upcoming 2016 36th SA &WA State Awards for Cinematography are opening soon on August 12 so get your best work together.

The only way to enter the ACS National Awards is to win Gold at the State level.

Check out the 2016 / 2017 Categories and Terms & Conditions on our website.

I look forward to seeing some great work! The online entry form link will be announced in the August eNews.

Don't forget the 36th Awards will be held in Perth for only the second time on October 29, so put the date in your diaries. We'll have an awards dinner here in Adelaide too for all those who cannot get over to Perth.

Do you love filmmaking?


Tropfest is celebrating their 25th anniversary next February 11 2017, so it's time to get creative!


Each film must contain the Annual @Tropfest Signature Item (TSI) and the 25th annual TSI is 'PINEAPPLE'!


Submissions close December 15, 2016.

In Sydney? Why Not Visit ACS HQ

If your going to Sydney use the opportunity to check out ACS HQ in North Sydney.

The clubhouse is fantastic. The old gear, memorabilia, mementos and library are just incredible and worth visiting too see for that alone.

The NSW branch give all a warm welcome they have regular drop in nights so you might even get lucky with your timing.

If you're up in Sydney don't forget to contact Richard Wilmot or David Lewis ACS and go and check out your HQ, grab a coffee or use the internet, look though the museum or library. It's great and it's for all ACS members, send them an email to arrange a time as it’s well worth a visit.

ACS CineKids

You might know someone who may want to be an ACS CineKid, if so encourage them to join our newest membership category. - ACS CineKids - has been created to encourage and foster interested kids up to the age of 15 years to participate and take an active hands-on approach to Cinematography.

An ACS CineKids Member is a young person, 15 years or under, who has a passion for cameras and filmmaking.
