July 29 Sleight of Hand & A Place to Call Home Screenings & Q&A's

A frame from Sleight of Hand

Wow, here's a goodie, a double banger on July 29 at the SAFC Adelaide Studios theatre. 1815 for a 1830 start.

2013 Milli Award winner, Jo Rossiter ACS and Writer/Director Michael Cusack will screen on the SAFC big screen a DCP of their highly awarded and beautifully shot, stop motion film Sleight Of Hand followed by a Q&A with both of them.

Then a break for refreshments followed by a look at some stunning footage from the TV series A Place to Call home shot on the Sony F65 by DoP John Stokes ACS again followed by a Q&A with very talented yet humble ACS & ASC Award winning cinematographer.

This promises to be an entertaining, inspirational and educational night so RSVP soon but make sure your dues are paid as we wouldn't want anyone to miss out due to being unfinancial. Non members $20 but they must RSVP.

For security and catering reasons RSVP is essential by CoB July 26 via the link below. If you haven't RSVP'd by the due date, apologies, but you will not be allowed into the complex.

2013 AGM

The upcoming 2013 ASA Branch Annal General Meeting will be held on Tuesday August 13 @ The Toorak Burnside Lawn Bowls Club cnr Grant Ave & Giles St Toorak Gardens.

If you really wish to be involved in the SA branch just put your hand up by using the nomination form via the link below and email it to us by Monday 14/07/2013.

Only financial Accredited, Full, Active, Life & Retired members are considered as Corporate Members and therefore are eligible to nominate for the committee.

Of course, like any ACS night, we balance the mundane with the fun, so not only will there be the totally absorbing AGM and all that corporate stuff but also there will be lawn bowls (weather permitting), judging the phone-tography comp, something good to eat & drink and a general good time and a chance to catch up with influential, charming, and above average cinematographers, crew and sponsors! ;-)

So make sure that you RSVP when we send out the August News.

BTW may I use this opportunity to remind you we are here for you - our members. So if you have any constructive feedback, suggestions for trade nights you would like to see, fun nights that you reckon most of our members would enjoy, or general suggestions to make our branch better please let me or one of our committee know. Their names are accessible on our website on the SA branch page.

Our branch can only be as good as you want it to be! Without input, energy and enthusiasm from you, our members, we will not improve. So if you want our branch to do better, then do something about it! Even if it's only suggesting how your dedicated committee could do it better, or by turning up to events, or by suggesting something/someone that you would like to learn/see/hear about.

The ACS has access to an amazing group of cinematographers, sponsors, equipment manufacturers/suppliers, crew, etc, and unless we know what you want or are interested in we can't really influence the direction of the ACS or what events your branch provides. So get off your butts, get involved, turn up and at least, communicate with us.
