On location with Mal Ludgate ACS

How this for an assignment, it's a dirty job but someone's gotta do it!

Local member Mal Ludgate is working in the Abrolhos islands in WA doing several presenter led stories, one of which is a segment on the Batavia wreck site, but it’s been very rough and they have had trouble getting on the site.

Mal finally did manage to do a scuba dive to film the wreck and he was constantly shoved back and forth about 5 meters along the bottom, by the big swell, as the wreck is in shallow water.

They also have a sub onboard they are using to film in deep water where Mal can't dive. The island these pictures were taken (with fishing shacks) is Beacon Island where the Batavia survivors came ashore and the stone fort is on West Walabi Island where the last battle was held.

They now have moved to the Southern group (Abrolhos Islands) and are having sub electrical faults which are slowing them down and delaying what they can shoot. Soon they plan to shoot Tiger sharks! One has already turned up around the vessel......dirty water as well.....just what they don't need!

Why don't you send a couple of shots and a few words about your latest shoot. I'm sure our members would love to see and hear what you've been up to. EC.

NEWS committee representative wanted!
