AGM & Camera Olympics Update

Uluru

The SA AGM took place on Monday October 13 at the Toorak Gardens Bowling Club, with a good bunch of members in attendance.

We got the official part of the night out of the way quickly, with the new committee for 2012-2013 as follows:

A bird in the mouth is worth.....

President: Ernie Clark ACS
Vice Presidents: JoAnne Bouzianis-Sellick & Mark Evans
Secretary: David Woolford & Assistant Secretary :Kirsty Stark
Treasurer: Mylene Ludgate: Assistant Treasurer: Richard Back
Committee Members: Malcolm Ludgate ACS, Clive Taylor ACS, Jo Rossiter ACS, Paul Martino, Vivyan Madigan, Maxx Corkindale & Aaron Gully

After a dinner of pizza and a few drinks at the bar, we began the Camera Olympics, a challenging event that involved answering quiz questions, guessing the distance to focus marks, deliberating over the weights of cameras, lenses and lights and Ernie's wallet, estimating the colour temperature of various photographs.

After a lot of debate, discussion and perhaps even some blatant cheating (never!), the scores were announced, with the overall winners being Richard Back and JoAnne Bouzianis-Sellick. Both won copies of the fantastic ACS publication, The Shadowcatchers: A History of Cinematography in Australia. A special prize also went to Associate Member, Des Kenneally, whose creative answers gave everyone a laugh.

The evening also saw the announcement of the winners of the ACS Phone-tography Competition, including the public vote for the People's Choice Award. All photographs had been taken by members on set using the camera on their mobile phones, and there were several outstanding entries. Congratulations to the winners:

Best composition: Brant Cumming for his Self Portrait at Ayers Rock $100 2nd prize: Russell Marrett for Blast $75
Most creative: Kirsty Stark Good morning, Renmark $100
2nd prize: Closed Set by Kirsty Stark $75
Funniest photo: Russell Marrett for a Bird in the Mouth is Worth?? $100
2nd Prize: Russell Marrett for Drink with your Boss $75
People's Choice voted at AGM by members: Graham Shelton $200 for Birthlight

Overall it was a fantastic night, and a great chance to catch up with some fellow cinematographers. We hope to see you all there next year!

Thanks to the outgoing committee, thanks for your commitment and input over the last 12 months and thank you for coming on board again for the next 12 months.

The committee would really appreciate input from all of our members, so get involved, give ideas to any committee member and please support them in trying to do their best for you, our members and our branch.
