Data Wrangling Courses

We have been working with AFTRS to organise Data Wrangling courses.

There are now 2 available, the first aimed at Producers and the second aimed at Camera Department (& on set crew) flowing through to post production. The details are:

Data Management and Video Workflow for Producers
Fri Aug 24 14:00 - 18:00
Adelaide Studios
$75.00 /$67.50 industry/earlybird/AFTRS staff/students
http://www.open.aftrs.edu.au/class/E553-07

This four-hour course, taken by Mik Gojik, is an introduction to managing data from file-based cameras in production, post-production and for delivery.

It is an excellent introduction to the challenges of file-based data management for producers and production managers and will help participants take advantage of modern HD file-based cameras and post-production workflows whist minimizing the associated risks.

Data Wrangling - On Set & Post Production
Sat Aug 25 11:00 - 16:00
Adelaide Studios
$95.00/$85.00 industry/earlybird/AFTRS staff/students
http://www.open.aftrs.edu.au/class/E559-01

This five hour course, taken by our very own Maxx Corkindale and Mik Gojik, is an introduction to managing data from file-based cameras in an on-set environment and in post-production.

It covers how to prepare for and manage data confidently and responsibly in a high pressure on-set environment, the historical and current formats including file-based codecs, metadata and how to handle multiple formats on one production. The course will address Media Management, liaising between the on-set and post production crew, as well as best practices for documentation and naming conventions.

Participants will gain a thorough understanding of data as a 'digital negative' and feel confident about working with digital data on-set and managing data and delivering data in an appropriate format for post-production.

So check them out, as you probably are aware badly managed data can be very expensive and quite destructive for one's career.

The courses will be held at the SAFC. Book soon via the links below.
