Wrap up of VFX & Colour Grading Night

Well what a great night with over 60 attending Marty Pepper's presentation in the SAFC's impressive theatre.

Marty screened a comprehensive compile reel of grading and sfx shots with split screens that clearly demonstrated the before and after and the skills involved in turning these shots into masterpieces.

He carefully took us through raw footage, graded footage, 3D model, sfx and rig removal on an array of high end TVC's and feature films. It's great to know that this level of post is happening here in Adelaide.

This was followed by an informal chat and a drink in the green room. Thanks Marty Pepper from Kojo and to to Sean Lahiff from ASE for combining with the ACS to put this night on.

NEW SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT - CineHire

In June our branch has had the pleasure of welcoming CineHire as its newest Bronze sponsor. Owned and managed by Darcy Sullivan and Peter 'Itchy' Itsines, CineHire has been supplying a wide range of equipment to shoots all over SA in its inaugural year of operation.

CineHire was conceived to give SA filmmakers a high end rental house in their own backyard. They supply camera & lens hire, camera support, remote head rental and video assist solutions. So now instead being forced to rent from Sydney or Melbourne you have your equipment needs located only 5 minutes from Adelaide's city center and therefore saving on freight costs.

Another of the many benefits of having a high end rental facility in Adelaide is the ability to test the equipment, before deciding if it suits your project. So if you have any questions about equipment or you just want to go and test CineHire's ARRI Alexa & 35mm PL mount Prime Lenses, give Darcy a call - 0438 334 118, Itchy 0418 824 115 & check out their website www.cinehire.com.au or drop into their Stepney Studio which also includes a full cyclorama.

If you have a business or know of one that could be a sponsor please click on the link below and let me know. We have varying priced sponsorship packages available which can suit a variety of businesses.

Racks in a van

Pick up 2011 SA Gold Winners

Don't forget if you were lucky enough to win Gold at the 2011 SA & WA awards for Cinematography your entry is now available for pick up from Anifex, 65 King William Street, Kent Town. So please call in and pick them up ASAP during office hours. Just ask for JoAnne or Jo.

We can only store these entries for another month or so, so collect them soon.

This might interest some of our members. Since there isn't a dedicated camera vehicle here a couple of entrepreneurial Adelaide crew have organised a camera rack system to plug into a pre-rigged Complete Ute & Van Hire - Toyota Hiace.

It consists of two shelf units that fit into the 9.8 cubic metre, long wheel base, high roofline Van. The shelves have a raised lip and non slip rubber matting to stop boxes sliding. The gear is accessed via two side sliding doors or the rear lift door.

Each rack is approx 1300 (H), 1900 (L) & 550 (W) and the clearance between allows for a magliner to be stowed in the aisle. Bench workspace and a light is incorporated into one end. Whilst designed primarily for camera equipment, the racks could be useful for short term or downsized solutions for other departments.

Rates for storage racks are $110 for the first day and $44 day after that. All rates include gst & the first days rack hire incorporates installation & removal. The racks take 30 mins to install and need to be booked independently through Brad 0402 786 462 or Jes 0410 669 438 or vanrackhire@gmail.com

The van needs to be booked independently via sales@completeuteandvanhire.com.au or 08 8234 1300. The standard rate for the SLWB Hiace Van is $110 day. Special Film & TV rates are available and can be as low as $77/day for longer hires.

The SA Branch appreciates the support of our National Sponsors.
