As we step into the final quarter of 2021, there is much to look forward to in these uncertain times. Although hedging on potential lockdowns should be added to the list of betting sports, we are optimistic that the Queensland ACS Awards will go ahead on November 20 at Brisbane City Hall. I am looking forward to catching up with familiar faces and meeting newer members. Be sure to secure your tickets, and we extend a warm welcome to new attendees. In the event of a lockdown, we hope to transition to an online event. I prefer to stay positive and dust off my dinner jacket in anticipation. Applications have now closed for the 2021 Accreditation screenings, and best of luck to all entrants.Despite the border restrictions, the Queensland film and television industry continues to boom and seems set to maintain this momentum well into 2022.
With an increased demand for skilled technicians at all levels, the ACS plans to provide professional development workshops throughout the coming year. We are open to suggestions to facilitate courses, workshops, or activities to support and develop members' careers. The one-day Camera Assistant 101 workshop on Sunday, October 17, was quickly oversubscribed with a long waitlist. Apologies to those who missed out. Do not be too disappointed as the committee is looking to offer another opportunity along with additional courses. Please keep a close eye out for these dates on the QLD ACS Instagram and Facebook pages, as they will be announced soon.
