Greetings Queensland members, This coming Saturday at the Southport Sharks Function Centre on the Gold Coast, the 2014 Queensland Awards for Cinematography winners will be announced at a gala event. LIGHTING WORKSHOP - 'LIGHTING WITH TEXTILES'
The ACS QLD Branch, in association with ACS Qld Sponsor Micks Gripping, will be hosting a small intimate lighting workshop to be presented by Mr Grant Atkinson. This workshop will cover some unique techniques of using textiles and fabrics along with a variety of lighting fixtures. From lighting product, quality of light on skin tone and perfect green screens, this workshop is aimed at all experience levels to give your toolset some further tricks for controlling light. Since the mid 1980s, Grants career has spanned across a wide variety of lighting disciplines. As a lighting technician and best boy, through to a gaffer working in feature drama, TVCs and Industrial Installations, he has worked with some the worlds most respected DOPs and Gaffers. His obsession is textile design and development, and his company Rocket Film Equipment, continues to supply fabrics for Space Lights, Green Screens and countless accessories for film sets. The workshop will be held on two separate days, Thursday 20th & Friday 21st November - at Molendinar, Gold Coast. Numbers are strictly limited and there is no cost to ACS Members, but you must be a current financial member of the ACS QLD, so register your interest early to secure a place on either day - this chance to extend your own skill set is not to be missed.
