Screen Well is pleased to announce that we have partnered with Jonathon Dutton (Independent Consultant) and the University of Melbourne on the report, Leadership Matters, to be released on the 14th of March 2024.

Bullying, discrimination, harassment, and destructive work conditions have all emerged as central themes in previous screen industry reports, leading to calls for cultural change.

As part of the launch, the University of Melbourne will be hosting a free webinar where the researchers and authors, Jonathon Dutton and Jo Briscoe, will take the audience through the need for this research, the key findings and their recommendations.

The researchers believe if screen leaders are better supported by equipping them with the skills and knowledge they need, the culture of the industry can improve over time. Dutton says:

“This report offers a practical path forward to improve the culture of our industry and is a valuable resource for all leaders and screen businesses.”

To attend the launch, and receive a copy of the full report, register for the free webinar BELOW.

Invitation to participate in the
Australian Camera Department Survey for the recommended minimum rate card.

It is time to do an update for the rate card with the aim to include cinematographers.

It would be great to get an accurate measure for the current rates in Australia, as well as a thorough understanding of what you want listed (or not listed) moving forward as an ideal minimum recommendation. Or generally any thoughts you may have about rates / conditions / and even having a rate card.

There is also the possibility that the ACS will host the rate card in the future on their website as a tool for all technicians and productions to access for reference. All answers are optional and so is anonymity. If you take on more than one role, please feel free to complete the survey more than once for each role you wish to provide feedback for.
