Dear Friends and Colleagues,
On behalf of the ACS NSW Branch I would like to extend my condolences to the friends, family and colleagues of ACS accredited member #108, Richard Bailie-Mace ACS who recently passed away. Richard was a life member (2013) and was inducted into the ACS Hall of Fame (2014). He had a long and varied career and, having mentored many that came after him, I know he will be deeply missed.
It’s been a big end to the year and so I’m hoping as we wind down, many of you will get a chance over the holiday season to regroup and take some time for yourselves, and to spend it with friends and family.
Our November Optics Drop In was a massive success, so a big thank you to Nic Godoy and Grant Hansford from Panavision and to Jono Le Grice for coming along and sharing some insights into the shooting of the AFTRS short film that earned him the Ross Wood ACS Judges Award this year.
Our December ACS NSW Drop In will be our annual festive celebration in partnership with ARRI Australia. ARRI have kindly made their new premises at North Ryde available, so join us for our end of year celebration on Thursday December 15th from 6pm. There is plenty of parking at ARRI Australia, a train station nearby and the event is FREE for all our members and sponsors. We will have a food truck on site and drinks to help celebrate the end of the year with friends and colleagues. Please see details below, we look forward to seeing you all there!!
There’s also a combined Guilds Xmas Party on Tuesday December 13th from 6pm that ACS members are invited to attend. This is a ticketed event so please book via the link in this newsletter.
A reminder that we have an upcoming Cinekids Workshop run by Elena de Brujine on Saturday Dec 10th from 9.30am -12 noon. We still have some places, so please pass on this information to any 12-15 year old potential Cinekids.
If you think you might have window of opportunity in the coming year to run a workshop, talk about an aspect of your work or are interested in mentoring upcoming cines, please drop me a line so we can make it happen.
My email is cconstantine@cinematographer.net.au.
Enjoy the holiday season everyone and hope to see you at our Festive Drop In next week!
All the best,
Carolyn
