David Lewis ACS

From NSW President - David Lewis ACS

The ACS NSW branch will hold its Annual General Meeting at 6:30pm, Monday 7th August at ACS Headquarters, please take the opportunity to attend the AGM and support the new NSW branch committee.
After five years as the NSW branch President I have decided not to nominate again for this position.
Now is the time for an injection of fresh blood and to give someone else the opportunity to take the branch to its next level and to add their own personal touch to the society.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my five years as NSW President and would like to thank all the committee members, members, sponsors and friends who have assisted me over this period.
I will still play a role as one of the National Vice Presidents and as the ACS Headquarters manager.
The branch has achieved a lot over this time and continues to go from strength to strength and I am sure that this growth will continue under the incoming President and future committees.
One of the branches achievements is its participation in the establishment of the ACS Headquarters. ACS HQ stands today as a symbol of the dedication and hard work especially by the committees, members and sponsors who have freely given their time and energies to make this happen.
NSW branch secretary Steve Munro has also decided that after six years he will not nominate for the position this year. On behalf of the society I would like to thank Steve for his dedication and hard work in helping myself and the committee achieve the smooth running of the branch over this time.
Lizz Vernon has also decided not to stand this year for a committee position, so that she can have more time to concentrate on her role on the National Executive as the Chair of the Web site Committee and National E-News Editor. I would like to thank Lizz for her contributions to the NSW branch over the last four years.
The ACS is a "Not for Profit Society" and relies entirely on the generosity of its members and sponsors to organize its day to day running. Remember no one is paid for their contribution of time and energy; this is what makes the ACS the success that it is both here in Australia and internationally. The society is only as good as its members and for it to grow and thrive it needs everyone's support, even in little ways.
On behalf of the society I thank you for your continued support.
David Lewis ACS

July Drop In - Change of Venue

In a break with tradition of the last six years this month we will not be holding our normal "third Thursday Drop In" at ACS HQ.

The July Drop In will be held in conjunction with ARRI Australia and Barbizon Australia which, as part of SMPTE week, are throwing a combined 170th birthday party.

Dale Bremner

Featured will be NSW member, Dale Bremner, who will discuss some of his recent projects and his approach to the photography and other aspects of his work. One project in particular was a film shot in central Australia and made in collaboration with the Australian National Museum and Australian National Gallery as part of a large exhibition currently in the making. Along with a 2D narrative story, plates and elements will be integrated into a state of the art 3D "DOME" experience, held at the Australian National Gallery.

Just a stone's throw from the SMPTE Conference & Exhibition, ARRI and Barbizon along with ACS would love you and a partner to attend.

6pm-10pm
Thursday 20th July
Quarrymans Hotel
214-216 Harris St
Pyrmont

Entry will be with an ARRI centenary pin or ACS Membership, the former available from the ARRI (E51) and Barbizon (C51) booths at the SMPTE Show, July 18-21, Level 2, Halls 3 & 4, Darling Harbour ICC.

To ensure more than adequate refreshments (craft beer their specialty), delicious pub fare and swag, please RSVP as soon as possible to info@arri.com.au
