Our May Drop In will feature two presentations, the first will be the annual entertaining and informative "Lemac NAB Review". Lemac has been busy in the cutting room and is excited to once more showcase all the highlights, innovations and announcements of this year's NAB Show in Las Vegas. Join Lemac as they recap all that was the "M.E.T. (Media Entertainment Technology) Effect" at NAB Show 2017.
Following Lemac will be a presentation by Toby Oliver ACS.
Toby, a NSW member, made the big move to the United States a few years ago and since arriving in Los Angeles has been fortunate enough to shoot "a bunch of scary movies". One that has hit the theatres is Tobys first US film "The Darkness", starring Kevin Bacon and directed by fellow Aussie Greg McLean, and the other is the indie movie phenomenon "Get Out", directed by Jordan Peele and is now the most successful writer/director debut movie in history, clicking over $200m at the worldwide box office last week.
Toby will screen some clips, discuss his work and tell us a little of his life in the US and for those of us considering moving to LA or for those quite content with life here in Australia, Tobys presentation promises to be equally as interesting.
Make a note in your diary for Thursday 18th May. HQ doors (address below) will open at 6pm and as usual our presentations will start at around 6:40pm.
The 2017 ACS National Awards for Cinematography were held last week at Strangers Dining Room, NSW Parliament House and what a great night it was. Thanks and congratulations to the NSW Committee for organizing such a wonderful evening and the supporting events held during the preceding week. Thanks also to our sponsors for helping to make these events possible.
