July Drop In
Our July Drop In will feature a presentation from director
Marc Windon of his recently completed feature film
MY NEIGHBOUR MARTIKA. Set in Belgrade but shot in Sydney by Nick De Laine, the cinematography was inspired by the work of Janusz Kaminiski ASC and, for the technically minded, the images were captured with Zeiss Master Primes and a 6K Red Dragon. Marc's synopsis:
The gap between the rich and the poor has widened beyond repair. While the rich minority enjoy the delights of life, poor folk exist in a perennial state of squalor.

They are distracted, confused, with nothing to do but quarrel over their plight and think about the never-ending pursuit of a better life obtained through the collection of money. For Alyona and her neighbour Martika, the end of their friendship begins here. With polar opposite personalities, they slowly disintegrate from realism to idealism, forgetting the trust they once shared, allowing desperate circumstances to inflict constant loneliness and inducing a never ending cycle of torment. 2016 NSW/ACT Awards
Entries for the 2016 NSW/ACT Awards will be accepted from
August 1st - August 26th.
If you intend to enter some of your work it's time now to get your files together and be prepared as entries will not be accepted after August 26th. The 2016 Award Entry Terms & Conditions document is available for viewing or download using this link:
Membership Renewals
Thank you to over half the membership for paying their fees on time and a reminder to those who haven't that your membership expired on 30th June 2016, so please make yourself financial again!
*Please take care not to pay on last year's BPay and Reference number which may be stored in your banking Payee list as it was a MYOB invoice. We have changed the accounts system to Xero and will NOT receive payments made to MYOB. Please follow the link on your invoice or pay by EFT, account details also on your invoice.
*Members who made payments through July will receive their membership cards early August.
NSW Annual General Meeting
The ACS NSW Annual General Meeting will be held at the ACS HQ on Thursday 25th August at 6.30pm.
A further announcement regarding this will be made over the next few weeks.
Drop In Text Messages
For the last few years members have been reminded of the monthly Drop In via the emailed "Focus" newsletter and an SMS text message sent on the morning of the event. Due to the increasing cost of sending the text messages the committee has decided to discontinue this service. For information regarding future Drop Ins please now look to your emailed newsletter or the ACS Facebook page. It may be worth putting a recurring event in your diary for the third Thursday of the month.
