Red Weapon - Tech Report

The ACS Technical Committee and FXPHD have made an "Introductory Video" looking at Red's new carbon fibre Weapon camera. The video looks at new features and performance levels. Included are some specific tests to see how the upgraded signal processing in the Weapon improves dynamic range performance and how the dynamic range compares with the previous Red Epic Dragon and the ARRI Alexa XT.

Thanks to the ACS Technical committee and to FXPHD for their considerable efforts in putting these ongoing technical evaluations together.

Phil Balsdon - Update

You may remember that in 2012, NSW member Phil Balsdon suffered a major stroke.

Phil's rehabilitation has been long and slow and he still has some way to go. He is currently awaiting surgery to insert a new "skull cap" (cranioplasty) and although he has been measured, and is ready to go, his surgery is considered non urgent and he has been advised this may not take place for another 6-12 months.

It's been a struggle for him but he does like to keep in contact with as many of his friends as he can. As a Facebook fan he would appreciate any contact via his FaceBook page.
