June Drop In

Our June Drop In will feature cinematographer Henry Smith of Bus Stop Films and Taste Creative.

Henry and his wife, 2015 Young Australian of the Year, Genevieve Clay-Smith run Bus Stop Films a pioneering, not for profit voluntarily run organisation based in Sydney, dedicated to providing people from marginalised communities, the opportunity to learn about and be involved in professional filmmaking.
Henry will screen two recent short films, Heartbreak & Beauty and The Interviewer, he will talk about his work and tell us about “inclusive” film making.

A Bus Stop Films initiative hosted by the ACS

Of inclusive filmaking, Henry says:
“We believe that all industries should be accessible to those who want the chance to be included.
So introducing a Taste Creative & Bus Stop Films initiative… inclusive filmmaking.

We are dedicated to helping members of diverse and marginalised communities. We help people to learn about and be involved in professional filmmaking. We call this inclusive filmmaking and we love to create projects that give opportunities to those who face barriers to inclusion.”

The ACS in conjunction with Bus Stop Films was pleased to host a cinematography lighting tutorial for disabled students, led by Genevieve Clay Smith, Henry Smith and Jarryd Hall at the ACS Headquarters in North Sydney last Saturday 13th June.
Richard Wilmot, Lizz Vernon along with David and Marianne Wakeley were also eager participants in this rewarding initiative . This is the second workshop that the ACS has participated in and will endeavour to do more in the future.

Sony CBK-55BK Offer

If you’re a Sony F55 or F5 camera owner here’s an offer you may be interested in:
“Sony has started shipping the CBK-55BK shoulder-mount dock for their popular CineAlta PMW-F55 and PMW-F5 cameras, with a great introductory offer.

The CBK-55BK dock is another game changer and transforms the cameras – just slide them into the dock and suddenly the operator has the familiar ergonomics of a true shoulder-mount camera, ideal for documentaries, EFP and run-&-gun shooting. The F55 can be a 35mm production camera for one shot, quickly and easily converted to a broadcast-style camera for the next.

The dock positions key controls right where the operator’s muscle memory expects, there’s a slot for a plug in wireless mic receiver, plus inputs and outputs on the back. The padded shoulder arch adjusts fore and aft to balance properly with a wide range of lenses.

Until the end of June 2015, Sony is offering existing F55 and F5 owners a very special price on the CBK-55BK. This offer is also available to purchasers of new cameras.”

See any Sony authorised Content Creation dealer for details.
