As usual, David Lewis ACS has been hard at work arranging presentations for our Thursday Drop Ins and this month, for your enlightenment and enjoyment, he has two. Mathew Alexander of Panasonic Australia will present an overview of the Panasonic Varicam 35.
With a claimed 14+ stops of latitude and a wide dynamic range and colour gamut the VariCam 35 is equipped with a full-size 4K image sensor. Mathew will put the camera through its paces with a live demo of its capabilities which we can view on a 4K monitor. Also, fresh from the set of Pirates of the Caribbean 5, aerial DP Peter Beeh will be presenting both the Shotover K1 and Shotover F1 stabilised camera systems.
Almost any digital camera and lens combination can be used in the Shotover system and they can be used both as an aerial platform, and on tracking vehicles. Engineered to be moved in ways not achievable by other systems, the rigs are stable at focal lengths in excess of 1000mm. Come along to HQ this Thursday the 19th and get hands on with the VariCam 35 and the Shotover system. As usual, HQ doors (address below) open at 6pm with proceedings kicking off at 7pm or so.
2015 ACS National Awards Tickets
DUE TO UNPRECEDENTED DEMAND AWARDS BOOKINGS HAVE BEEN CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
You may have noticed on the ACS web site that we have closed bookings for the National Awards in Hobart. The Society apologises for any inconvenience, but the demand has been unprecedented, and we have now established an Awards Stand By list. If you would like to be included please contact National President, Ron Johanson ACS. This will not guarantee you a booking, as seats will be allocated on a first come first served basis, but it means you will be in the running should places become available. Once again apologies for any inconvenience, but keep in mind there will be much to see and over the Awards weekend, and I encourage you to consider making the journey to Tasmania for a well earned break.
