Next Drop In

Our guest at the September Drop In will be NSW member Pieter de Vries ACS who recently spent time in the US shooting a trailer for "Women in Blues” the working title of a new documentary being produced by U N Me Films.

Pieter travelled through Chicago Illinois, Clarksdale Mississippi and down through Louisiana to New Orleans - all the way, filming and photographing the story of American Blues music and in particular, the women who sing the blues.

Requiring both stills and video but with a total crew of only two, Piet needed a small lightweight and unobtrusive camera kit. His weapon of choice for this task was the new Sony A7s with a small handful of lenses.

On thursday evening he will screen video and stills and talk about his experiences with this new and exciting compact camera that he has grown to love.

STOP PRESS!!! STOP PRESS!!! JUST ANNOUNCED!!!!

Also at Thursday’s Drop In there will be the opportunity for a first look at Sony’s recently - announced (last Friday) PXW-FS7 – a Super35mm shoulder type camcorder aimed squarely at documentary and “run-and-gun” style shooting. Be one of the first in Australia to get up close and personal with this brand new camera.

Promises to be a good night - make a note in your diary - September 18th. As usual doors at ACS HQ (address below) will open at 6pm with proceedings kicking off some time before 7.

NSW/ACT Awards

Entries for the 2014 NSW/ACT Awards have now closed and will be judged by an Accredited panel over the weekend of 27th & 28th of September. To be held once again at the Masonic Centre in Sydney, this gala ACS event is one not to be missed.
