Next Drop In

Muriel’s Wedding, Proof, Children of the Revolution, The Sound of One Hand Clapping, Danny Deckchair, Jack Irish, Rake, The Broken Shore. These feature films and TV dramas are part of a wide ranging body of work completed by Australian cinematographer Martin McGrath ACS.

We at the ACS are pleased to announce that Martin will be joining us at our August Drop In. Martin was awarded a Gold Tripod at the recent National Awards for his work on The Broken Shore and we look forward to hearing his thoughts on how he went about preparing for and shooting this wonderful looking film.

Many of you will by now be aware of the new ARRI AMIRA. You may have researched the AMIRA specs, seen video demos and followed discussions on newsgroups but chances are you haven’t seen one “in the flesh” - wait no longer.

Stefan Sedlmeier, our esteemed sponsor of ARRI Australia, will be making available for a “hands on experience”, one of these new and exciting cameras. Designed primarily as a documentary style camera the AMIRA is also suitable for a variety of production types, from reportage and corporate films to TV drama and low-budget movies.

So, as you often do, make a note in your diary for Thursday August 21st - as usual doors at HQ (address below) will be open from 6pm with proceedings kicking off sometime before 7pm.

ACS NSW Annual General Meeting

For members wishing to attend, at 6:15pm and preceding the August Drop In, ACS NSW will be holding it’s Annual General Meeting. As there was no need this year to vote on the nominations the 2014-15 Executive & Committee has been decided upon and will be announced at the meeting.

NSW/ACT Awards - Entries Closing Soon

Entries for the 2014 NSW/ACT Awards for Cinematography have been open for the last two and a half weeks but will close shortly. It’s time to get your entries in.

ACS NSW Sponsors

The Society over the last few years has seen its profile and membership grow. There are many factors responsible for this growth and certainly our National Headquarters is high on the list as it is now the cornerstone of most things ACS.

However, without the generous support of our Sponsors at both a National and State Branch level the Society would not be able to contribute to Cinematography in Australia the way it does.

ACS NSW would like to thank our returning Sponsors for their continued support and also to our new Sponsor for 2014-15, Digihire.

Thank you:

Platinum Sponsor - Red Apple Camera Rentals

Gold Sponsors - Cinoptix, Daymaker Lighting, Southern Cross Cameras

Silver Sponsors - Adept Turnkey, Digihire, Digital Logic, Eden Creative Media, Film Graphics, fxphd, PDV Digital Cinema Workshops, Rosco
