ACS NSW Annual General Meeting

Dear ACS member,

Please be advised that the annual general meeting (AGM) of the NSW branch of the ACS will be held immediately before the August Drop In:

Time: 6pm sharp
Date: Thursday August 21st 2014
Location: ACS HQ, Level 2, 26 Ridge Street, North Sydney, NSW, 2060

Available for download (see link below) is a Committee and Executive nomination form.  You are invited to either nominate yourself or another member for any of the positions and all are available; but, please ensure if you are nominating another member that 1) they are a current financial member; and, 2) you have discussed with them that they are willing to commit to the position.

ACS NSW 2014-15 Committee Nomination Form »

If you wish to nominate yourself, please enter your name in the space provided and then tick the box you wish to nominate yourself for. If you wish to nominate another member, please enter your name in the space provided and then tick the relevant nomination box and add the name of the member you wish to nominate. If you wish to nominate yourself plus others for any of the positions then please enter your name in the space provided followed by ticking the relevant box plus the names of the people you wish to nominate (including, here, your own name for the position you wish to nominate for).

It was decided by the current committee that the total number of committee members nominated or elected shall be capped at 15 with effect from the next AGM (21/08/14). This is to include 5 executive members of the committee and no more than 10 general members of the committee. This is to ensure that all people on the committee are effective in their commitment to the running of the society at the branch level. If the total number of nominations exceeds the available positions (either executive or general) then there will be a vote cast by the members present on the evening of the AGM for any position that the nomination number exceeds positions. If you feel strongly that you wish to vote but cannot attend the AGM then please contact me for a proxy form after the nomination closing date. I will email all members after the nomination closing date but before the AGM if any position is in need of a vote (this includes any executive position that receives more than one nomination and any committee position if the total number of nominations for the general committee exceeds ten).

The committee is run entirely by committed volunteers and comprises 11 regular meetings on the first Monday of each month at the HQ (there is no January meeting). If you feel that you are unable to attend at least 9 of the 11 meetings (either because of distance to travel to the HQ or known work commitments) it is advisable to hold off your own nomination. Aside from the meetings the committee is actively involved in several events that require the dedication of the group to ensure the event’s success. These include (for example) the setting up and manning of promotional booths at various events (e.g. SMPTE, AFTRS, etc.); the annual awards night (and run-up to it); the monthly drop-ins plus many, many, more ways to become actively involved within the society.

All age groups, membership categories and fields are encouraged to become involved.
The closing date for nominations is Friday 15th August 2014 at midnight. Any nominations received after this time will be void. You can either return your completed nomination to me at smunro@cinematographer.net.au or you can mail it to the HQ – the address is both on the form and above.

All current committee and executive members are advised that they will need to submit a nomination for themselves if they wish to continue with the committee over the next year.

If you have any questions then please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Warm regards to you all,

Steve Munro
ACS NSW State Secretary
