March Drop In
Our guest at the next Drop In will be Pawel Achtel B.Eng(Hons) M.Sc. Pawel specialises in 3D, wildlife and underwater cinematography. With 15 years of experience, many prestigious international awards, scientific research and innovation, Pawel's unique approach to cinematography brings new levels of story telling through breathtaking visuals never experienced before.
As an underwater specialist, and not being satisfied with available underwater shooting systems, Pawel designed and constructed his own revolutionary new housings for shooting both 2D and 3D. For these he was awarded the prestigious Innovation Prize at NAB 2013 and in an industry dominated by multinationals like Canon and Sony this was a huge achievement for his small Australian company.
Pawel will bring along to ACS HQ not only examples of his fabulous underwater work but the housings that have enabled him to capture such stunning images. To get a feel for some of Pawels work have a look at these images - they are frame grabs from 5K 3D footage. And below is a link to his Vimeo Channel which is also well worth a look. If youre into the aesthetic and the technology behind it dont miss our next Drop In - March 20th at ACS HQ (address below). Doors will be open from 6pm.

Eden Creative Media (Canon 1DC and MacBookPro to help wrangle the data), ACS members donned swimming trunks and wet suits to brave the chilly waters at the Spit and capture enough footage to enable Eden Creative to complete the film. Im not sure who had the most fun - the sailors or the cinematographers.
