June Drop In
Our next Drop In will be on the 20th June. ACS sponsor Videocraft and Avid present Media Composer 7 Take complete control of your image - intuitively!
Avid Solutions Manager, Evan Boyd will present Media Composer 7, and explain new features including where Symphony fits in the landscape. Alongside Evan, Ben Allan ACS will present Avid's colour grading secrets. Using the Artist Colour palette, see how to edit and cut a timeline and quickly colour correct your footage without even touching a mouse or keyboard. These days with more and more cinematographers doing some if not all of their own colour grading this will be a Drop In not to be missed. As usual ACS HQ doors will be open from 6pm. Awards Entries Open Soon
The National Awards night is over for another year but we soon need to start thinking about the NSW/ACT Awards for 2013. As mentioned in the last issue of Focus, entries for the NSW/ACT Awards will open on the 1st August (opening date has been brought forward from August 12th) and close on the 31st August so it's time for you to start thinking about what you may want to enter. Details of how to enter, entry format requirements and conditions of entry will be added to the NSW web page soon.
Man The Stand
Once again the ACS will have a presence on the floor at the SMPTE Exhibition. A small stand will be the base from where we'll be able to inform the public about the ACS, sell ACS merchandise, field questions and accept membership applications. The exhibition runs from the 23rd to the 26th of July and we are appealing to members who may be interested and available to help out at the stand for a few hours or so.

NSW Membership Volunteers
You know here at the ACS we are very proud to carry on the goals and values instigated by the founders of the society nearly fifty five years ago. We have come a long way since 1958 and now, with branches in each of the states and territories, we continue to take pride in furthering cinematography throughout Australia. Here at the NSW branch there is a great deal of work that goes into organizing various events, functions and awards judging. Much of this goes on behind the scenes and is unseen by most of the membership however it does require a lot of effort and at times we struggle a little to get this work done. If you feel that you would like to contribute to any of these "behind the scenes" efforts, even in a small way, then please contact by email either David Lewis or David Burr and you'll be added to a "volunteers" list and possibly will be called on in times of need. Don't be shy now.
Membership Renewals
You should have received your membership renewal invoice during the first week of June but if you havent please contact treasurernsw@austcine.org.au
A reminder that to remain a "financial" member, all fees are due to be paid by 30th June - thanks to all of those who have already paid theirs.
NSW Focus Items
Each issue of NSW Focus is sent to 700 or so individuals each I'm sure with individual tastes in terms of what they would like to read about in the newsletter. If you see or hear of something that may be of interest to your fellow members and you'd like to see it in Focus send details in an email to David Burr using the included subject line. You may even prefer to write something yourself remembering though that inclusion in Focus will be at the discretion of the editorial committee.
