Fujifilm and Fujinon extend role as ACS Major National Sponsor for 2013

Marc Van Agten

SYDNEY, 18th December 2012. In a move sure to please all members of the ACS and their many associates, Fujifilm and Fujinon have again reaffirmed their commitment to the society by extending their role as Major National Sponsor for 2013.

Fujifilm Australia General Manager Motion Picture Film, Recording Media and Optical Devices Marc Van Agten said, "In challenging times Fujifilm and Fujinon feel it's more important than ever to support the local industry and specifically the talented creative individuals and filmmakers who make up the ACS. The ACS does so much for the industry and we are delighted to be able to give them our continued support in return".
2013 is the fourth consecutive year that Fujifilm and Fujinon have been the ACS Major National Sponsor.

ACS National President Ron Johanson ACS said, "I'm afraid I must repeat the mantra that I have been repeating for some time when I get this kind of excellent news. Everyone at the ACS is delighted that Fujifilm and Fujinon have again decided to support the Society by continuing as our Major National Sponsor. Put simply the ACS could not exist without the support of sponsors such as Fujifilm and Fujinon and I would like to offer my deepest thanks to Marc Van Agten, Simon Becker, Simon Murphy, Chris Royal, Phil Cannon and indeed the entire Fujifilm and Fujinon team for their invaluable and continued support of our great Society".

January Drop In

Well, here we go again.

With 2012 safely stowed we can now make way for 2013 and ACS NSW will kick off the year by starting a new round of Third Thursday Drop Ins.

Since its inception four years ago at Engine and now at the National HQ the Drop In night has continued to gain popularity with members and sponsors alike. At the helm once again and ably assisted by the Committee, is NSW President David Lewis ACS who is the driving force behind these great nights. As always look to your email inbox for monthly details.

There's nothing specifically planned for January but if you'd like to share some of your work bring it along and we'll screen it. The work can be your last Oscar nominated feature, your showreel or your first Film School project, it doesn't matter, bring it along and we'll put it up on the screen.

If you've yet to attend one of these nights or if you've never been to the HQ come on, start in January. ACS is very proud of the National Headquarters and it's there to be shared by all members.

Thursday 17th January, 6pm onwards at the National HQ - address details below.

Zeiss CP.2, Canon CN-E Lens Set Review

Recently ACS sponsor fxguide and the ACS Technical Committee reviewed the new Zeiss Compact Prime.2 Super Speed and Canon CN-E Digital Prime lens sets. Both these lens sets are a fraction of the cost of traditional cinema primes and offer excellent optical and mechanical performance but there is always going to be a catch.

Check out the video review on the ACS Vimeo Channel and view the test results on the ACS website using the links below.

Thank you to fxguide and the ACS Technical Committee; Tom Gleeson coordinator, David Wakeley ACS, Franc Biffone, Dan Freene ACS and also Lemac Rentals for participating in this round of testing.
