September Drop In

At the Drop In this month recently accredited NSW member Simon Chapman ACS will talk about his work on the feature film "The Loved Ones" a spine tingling, roller coaster ride of a horror film which won the Midnight Madness award at the Toronto Film Festival. Excerpts of the film will be screened and these followed by the usual and very informal Q&A. Members and friends welcome at ACS National Headquarters on Thursday 20th Sept - doors open from just before six - HQ address below.

ACS NSW Annual General Meeting

The ACS NSW Annual General Meeting was held in conjunction with the August Drop In.

ACS NSW would like to thank outgoing President Calvin Gardiner ACS for his dedication and contributions during his term as President.

We would also like to welcome incoming President David Lewis ACS and wish him well in his new position.

Thanks also to outgoing committee members Dan Freene ACS, Tony Gardiner, Tom Gleeson, Marcus Hides and Paul Kolsky. Their contributions have been much appreciated.

The committee welcomes incoming members Ben Allen ACS, Helen Barrow, Alexis Castagna, Anna Howard ACS and Richard Wilmot and looks forward to working with our new members over the next twelve months.

2012 NSW/ACT Awards for Cinematography

A reminder that entries for the 2012 ACS NSW/ACT Awards for Cinematography will close promptly at 5pm 21st September and there will be no extensions.

The Awards will be held on the 17th November at the Masonic Centre, Sydney.

The Shadowcatchers Special Event

There will be a special ACS Shadowcatchers Book Event on Wednesday, October 10th commencing 7.00pm at the HAYDEN ORPHEUM PICTURE PALACE, 380 Military Rd Cremorne.

A fantastic panel moderated by David Stratton and including; Bruce Beresford, Martha Ansara, Jack Thompson, Russell Boyd ACS ASC, Don McAlpine ACS ASC, Andrew Lesnie ACS ASC, Geoff Burton ACS, and Pieter De Vries ACS will discuss many elements relating to this truly historic book. This will be a very special evening and is one not to miss, so plan ahead to ensure you get a good seat. ACS members, on presentation of their ACS membership card, will have free entry. Coptercam

ACS NSW would also like to welcome aerial photography specialists Coptercam which has just come on board as an ACS NSW Gold sponsor. 2012/13 Membership Renewals

Thank you to all the members who promptly renewed their NSW Branch membership.
For those few who have not done so, please be advised that any member who remains unfinancial at the end of September, will have to be made inactive. We value all of our members so please pay your fees so you can continue to be part of the ACS, receive the AC Magazine and the E Focus.

Casual Lecturer Positon

Some of our members may be interested in this item sent to us by NSW member David Bell.

There is a position available for a Casual Lecturer at JMC Academy Sydney, teaching advanced Camera and Lighting skills.
At least five years industry experience is essential.
Preferably the applicant should possess tertiary qualifications.
This unit requires both theoretical and practical knowledge to be taught and
the successful applicant will need to set aside one full day per week for teaching.
