August Drop In - Sidat de Silva Presentation

Sidat de Silva (in foreground) on the set of Little Lies. Photo by Alex Weltlinger

While shooting tests on the Canon C300 NSW member Sidat de Silva discovered his meter has a maximum of ISO 8000. He was pleasantly surprised by the 'look' at this sensitivity and showed it to director Keith Johnson for his consideration to use it on his short film Little Lies. The camera's performance enabled Sid to get a textured image with fine control of lighting in a small motel room, something that would normally require a larger working space for lighting.

At the August Drop In he will be screening some ungraded footage and discussing his experience working with the camera.

These new Canons are becoming very popular around town so if you haven't used one come along on Thursday night and talk to someone who has.

Doors at the HQ (address below) open sometime before six with Sid's presentation starting at seven.

ACS NSW Branch AGM

The ACS NSW Branch AGM will be held in conjunction with our regular 3rd Thursday of the month Drop In on Thursday 16th August from 6.00pm.

That's this coming Thursday and all members are encouraged to attend.

Ray Martin - Honorary Member

Ray Martin & David Wakeley ACS

ACS friend and recent National and NSW/ACT Awards MC Ray Martin was presented with an ACS Honorary Member Certificate at the July HQ Drop In. Andrew Taylor ACS and David Wakeley ACS have been trying to tie a date together with Ray for some months. The Drop In night was a perfect choice as it coincided with a fabulous presentation from Andy covering his recent 60 Minutes and prior 4 Corners forays. Ray's presence relating stories with Andy added to our enjoyment of the evening.
Ray was awarded the Honorary Membership for his warm MC presentations at both the November 2011 ACS NSW/ACT Awards and the 2012 ACS National Awards, as well as his continued support for the industry as a whole.
Ray is an accomplished photographer and we hope we can talk him into having an exhibition at the HQ in the near future.
