The Shadowcatchers Book Launch Invitation

It's been heard on good authority that a couple of copies of The Shadowcatchers have been seen "in the wild". This can mean only one thing - the launch of the much anticipated ACS book is imminent.

In fact, from our National President:

Greetings ACS colleagues,
To help the ACS celebrate the official, long awaited launch of our much anticipated book THE SHADOWCATCHERS: A History of Cinematography in Australia, we'd like to invite you to attend our official Book Launch on Thursday, May 31. This is a truly historic event for the Society and we'd like you to share the moment with us. All the details are in the Invitation below, so please rsvp if you can make it and I'll look forward to seeing you on May 31.

A Well Deserved Win

While we're on the subject of our recent National Awards, as we have been, it should be noted that a raffle was held there to raise additional funds for The Shadowcatchers project. First prize was The Shadowcatchers hard copy #1 and the winner....... recently retired long standing AC Magazine editor Butch Calderwood OAM ACS. A more worthy recipient of this prize I don't think we could find so congratulations to a well deserving Butch.

Careless Love

You may remember that at a recent NSW Drop In night cinematographer Kathryn Milliss and producer Geoff Burton ACS presented a screening of Careless Love, a film directed by John Duigan.

The film tells the story of Linh, a Vietnamese Australian university student who secretly starts part-time work as an escort. Managing to keep her two lives separate, she develops an affinity with one of her clients, an enigmatic American art dealer who books her on a regular basis. But when she falls for a fellow student her worlds collide and she must deal with the emotional chaos that follows.

Careless Love opens nationally on the 17th May and in Sydney can be seen at at:
Randwick Ritz, Hoyts Paris, Hoyts Chatswood
and (from 24th May) at the Chauvel Cinema, Paddington.

Distributer Antidote Films is happy to be able to supply two lucky NSW/ACT members double passes to the film. The first two people to email - double pass offer after 1:00pm on May 15th will win double passes to a Sydney screening.
