ARRI ALEXA Studio

ARRI Australia and Red Apple Camera Rentals are pleased to present the new ARRI ALEXA Studio.

The ALEXA Studio boasts an optical viewfinder, 4:3 Super 35mm sensor and is now capable of accommodating anamorphic lenses.

Combining cutting edge digital imaging making technology with traditional elements of film cameras the ALEXA Studio follows the original ALEXA and the ALEXA Plus. ALEXA Studio, now with a spinning mirror
and traditional ARRI ground glass - wow! Surely an operator's dream.

A hands on demonstration of this much anticipated addition to the ALEXA range will be held at Red Apple's Artarmon premises so be there for drinks and nibbles and get your hands on another great camera from ARRI.

March Drop In - Thursday 15th

This month Cinematographer Kathryn Millass and Cinematographer/Producer Geoff Burton ACS will present "Careless Love".
With a list of credits far too long to mention here Geoff has photographed iconic Australian films such as "Sunday Too Far Away", "Storm Boy" and "The Year My Voice Broke".

Kathryn also has an impressive list of credits and a collaborative relationship with Geoff that goes back a long way.

Directed by John Duigan, "Careless Love" is set in the aftermath of the world financial crisis when many have lost their jobs and thousands their homes.

Kathryn and Geoff will screen excerpts from the film and discuss the Cinematographer/Producer working relationship.

We are looking forward to another great evening at the HQ so do your best to get along.
As usual kick off is 6pm or so at ACS HQ with the "main event" starting at about 7:15pm.

Last Month

Full House at HQ & at right Roger Buckingham ACS with Phil Balsdon who looks very pleased with his C300

There was standing room only at the February Drop In. Fifty members attended to hear to Danny Ruhlmann ACS talk about his work in the TV commercial world with emphasis car commercials. To illustrate Danny screened many of his award winning jobs. He also screened the trailer and discussed his first US feature film "The Raven". This was followed by a lively Q&A.

These very popular Q&As are part of the reason the Drop Ins have proved so successful.

Also, Phil Balsdon brought along his brand new Canon C300 and screened some test footage he's been shooting in the week that he's had the camera. This included some very impressive examples of low light photography and it seems that this is an area in which the camera excels. After the screening many in attendance took the opportunity to get hands on with camera.

Thank you to Danny and Phil for making the time to come along - it was a really great evening.
