Don McAlpine To Receive Raymond Longford Award

Congratulations to NSW member Don McAlpine ACS ASC on the announcement that he will be the recipient of the AACTA Raymond Longford Award. He joins, among others, fellow cinematographer and ACS member Russell Boyd ACS ASC also a recipient of this most prestigious award.
Don will be officially awarded at a special presentation at the Samsung AACTA Awards Luncheon on Sunday 15th January.

A big thank you to Stefan Sedlmeier and ARRI Australia for the loan of an Alexa for the week. Many members took the opportunity to come along to the HQ and familiarize themselves with this great camera from ARRI.

The week was capped off on Friday night by Managing Director of ARRI Munich, Prof. Franz Kraus, who gave a talk, illustrated with great Alexa footage, on the background of the camera and an insight into the technical developments we can look forward to.

It was an extremely interesting and informative presentation followed by a just as interesting Q&A enlivened by the informal atmosphere of the HQ and we were honoured to have the big boss of ARRI there for the night.

ARRI Australia, National ACS Headquarters Patrons, have , thanks to the generosity of Franz Kraus from ARRI head office, now generously upgraded their contribution for which we'd like to sincerely thank them.
