2018 we are welcoming The WA Screen Academy as a Gold sponsor!
The WA Screen Academy, located on the Edith Cowan University Mount Lawley campus in W.A, has formed quite a reputation as being one of Australia’s most innovative and distinguished facility with advanced-level training programs in screen production.
Offering production focused training, the academy is designed to prepare students to hit the ground running, with knowledge of the realities and challenges of working in the professional industry.
Students are taught and mentored by leading professionals, and accumulate significant analytical, practical and theoretical skills.
Notably the WA Screen Academy has partnerships with the world-class motion picture and medical company; ARRI (Australia) and motion picture production and technical company; Panther GmbH.
We are so grateful to those who coordinate and manage this outstanding state-of-the-art facility and encourage those who are interested to visit the WA Screen Academy web page.
The WA Screen Academy are just as excited to sponsor the WA branch for the year of 2018/2019 and will continue to express their amazing generosity with the use of their facilities and willingness to support the ACS.
Revelation Perth International Film Festivals third annual Screen Industry Open Day was held on Sunday the 15th of July at the North Metro Tafe in W.A. and we were lucky enough to showcase our society at our own booth.
We were sanctioned amongst a wide range of small businesses, education facilities, production companies and equipment rental houses, all of which had their own booths and were designed to suit emerging to mid-level filmmakers to explore and discover “what is out there” and "what Perth can provide”.
Our booth was visited by many people, especially those who were finishing their studies and had no knowledge of the ACS. It certainly was a day in which we were able to encourage those to join and to check out what we offer. Especially, with our merchandise, and the impeccable AC Magazines (Supplied by our committee member Ben Berkhout), both of which we had on display to see.
As we were surrounded by many other booths we only felt that encouraging those who came to us to go a have a chat to those who have supported us over the years. Namely; Location Equipment, an equipment rental house based in Leederville in which have supported us countless times especially over the last year with their space and expertise.
Thank you to committee and organisers of Revelations Film Festival and of the Screen Industry Open Day for approaching us, and offering us a booth.
An ACS CineKids Member is a young person aged between 10 - 15 years, who has a passion for cameras and filmmaking. This new membership category was created to encourage and foster interested kids to participate and take an active hands on approach to Cinematography.
The success will depend greatly on our members supplying a small amount of their time and experience.
We would like to ask our members to support the CineKids program in any way possible. We are looking for people to express interest in mentoring our workshops, supplying equipment, sponsorship and providing access to their sets so we may run small excursions giving on-set experience.
The WA Branch think this is a great opportunity to give something back, provide encouragement and promote good practices in the next generation of cinematographers.
If you know of any kids wanting to join, please point them here.
If you would like to offer any form of assistance or recommendations, please do not hesitate to contact ACS WA Branch acswa@austcine.org.au, local member Iain Appleyard will be co-ordinating the WA branch of Cinekids.
