Only ONE week till the AGM. Consider your positions on the committee now and complete the form

Dear Current Financial Member

Please be advised that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Victorian Branch of the ACS will be held Tuesday July 24th 2018, that's only a week away.

Time: 7pm sharp
Date: Tuesday July 24th 2018
Venue: Backlot Studios, 65 Haig St, Southbank VIC

ACS ASKS YOU TO CONSIDER TAKING ON A ROLE IN THE COMMITTEE.
You can be a vital part of your ACS and support it into the future.
At the AGM all committee positions will be made vacant and a new committee elected including executive positions such as President and Vcie President.
COULD THIS BE YOU?
Current Victorian President Warwick Field ACS has announced he will not be standing for re-election. We will be looking for a new President, someone who can lead the society into its next phase with a new vibrancy and passion. The role of the President requires someone with a deep understanding of cinematography and the film and TV Industry in general - it's a very highly regarded role in the industry and one which requires strong leadership and confidence based on experience. Ideally the new President will be an Accredited member but it is not mandatory.

**Available for download (see link below) is a Committee and Executive nomination form.  You are invited to either nominate yourself or another member for any of the positions and all positions will be available. Please ensure if you are nominating another member that 1)  They are a current financial member; and, 2)  You have discussed with them that they are willing to commit to the position.

At the commencement of the AGM all positions of the committee will be made vacant. All new positions will then be voted in by nomination. The current committee may nominate again for their positions and all current financial corporate members may nominate as well. Please note that current Victorian President, Warwick Field ACS will not be nominating for the position again this year.
CineKids, Student and Associate Members are non-corporate members and are not eligible to nominate for positions on the committee.
If you wish to nominate yourself, please enter your name in the space provided and then tick the box you wish to nominate yourself for. If you wish to nominate another member, please enter your name in the space provided and then tick the relevant nomination box and add the name of the member you wish to nominate. If you wish to nominate yourself plus others for any of the positions then please enter your name in the space provided followed by ticking the relevant box plus the names of the people you wish to nominate (including, here, your own name for the position you wish to nominate for).

If you feel strongly that you wish to vote but cannot attend the AGM then please contact Adam Russ for a proxy form.

The committee is run entirely by committed volunteers and comprises (usually) 11 monthly meetings. If you feel that you are unable to attend at least 9 of the 11 meetings (either because of distance to travel to the meetings or known work commitments) it is advisable not to nominate for a position. Aside from the meetings, the committee is actively involved in several events that require the dedication of the group to ensure the event’s success. These include (for example) the setting up and manning of promotional booths at various events; the annual awards night (and run-up to it); the monthly screenings at Backlot plus many, many, more ways to become actively involved within the society.

All age groups, membership categories and fields are encouraged to become involved.

The closing date for nominations is Monday 23rd July 2018 at midnight. Any nominations received after this time will be void. Please email the completed form to the ACS Victoria email address below.

All current committee and executive members are advised that they will need to submit a nomination for themselves if they wish to continue with the committee over the next year.

If you have any questions then please do not hesitate to get in touch with Adam Russ, Secretary. Ph: 0413 714 850.

The first ever Harris and Hartley

After the AGM this year we have a very special new screening program commencing hosted by Paul Harris (St Kilda Film Festival Director, film reviewer. movie enthusiast, radio and podcast presenter) and Mark Hartley (Film Director and Producer Not Quite Hollywood, Patrick, Electric Boogaloo. and renowned walking encyclopaedia of film knowledge).
We are naming it "Harris and Hartley" and they will be presenting evenings for the ACS at Backlot Studios, screening an eclectic mix of Australian films - perhaps lesser known but significant films from the past or classics that went to create the film industry we work in today. Paul and Mark will speak to us about aspects of Australian cinema that will intrigue, educate and sometimes amuse us as we look back into our past and perhaps invite special guests. We'll hera about some of the industry's ground-breakers, taste-makers, one-hit-wonders and our more colourful characters. We will celebrate cinematographers, directors, writers, entrepreneurs, editors, producers, designers, actors, composers, technicians and technological breakthroughs.
Don't miss these nights. They are guaranteed to be fascinating and an experience you may not find anywhere else as this pair come together exclusively for the ACS. One thing for sure - you will go away knowing something you didn't know before about the Oz film industry.
