Celebrating 65 years of the Australian Cinematographers Society: 1958 - 2023

From the National President

Dear members, sponsors and friends,

I'd like to take a moment with you to mark some significant changes in our key sponsors that are about to come into effect.

I want to say a huge thankyou to Fujinon Fujifilm who are stepping down as our Major National Sponsor after a remarkable eighteen years – since 2006.

What an unparalleled and remarkable relationship to have, and on behalf of all the ACS membership I extend our deepest appreciation. And we are enormously grateful that Fujinon Fujifilm has expressed their continuing strong commitment to the ACS by moving to become a National Sponsor at the Gold level.

Thank you Fujinon Fujifilm, your belief in ACS has enabled the Society to grow in so many ways. We look forward to continuing to catch up with you throughout the year and especially at Awards times.

We also say a huge thankyou and farewell to our friends at National Platinum Sponsor Silver Trak Digital who have supported ACS for many years, hosting the file sharing of many tens of hundreds of entries at Awards time – always a massive undertaking and managed and supported beautifully. Thank you Silver Trak Digital for your vital support.

And we are delighted to very warmly welcome aboard Creamsource as our new Major National Sponsor. We thank you Tama Berkeljon, Sasha Marks and Mark Naidoo for so enthusiastically jumping on board. The ACS is the only entity in Australia representing cinematographers across the board and right around the country. Being part of the ACS community means sponsors have direct connection and access to a key market who choose and use sponsors’ products and services.

Being part of the ACS means members meet likeminded peers, and are part of a society totally focussed on cinematography and cinematographers. The primary aim of ACS is to advance the art of cinematography through education and camaraderie. We aim to stage networking and educational events on a regular basis, where members learn about new techniques and technology, from their peers and professional colleagues.

Upcoming/recent events include: ACS nominees meet the Cutting Edge team in an open forum event at their Chippendale studios in Sydney, Thursday 22nd June, webinar with member Vance Burberry ACS talking about filming underwater, Tania Lambert ACS speaking with CreditMaker Cinematographer Kate Cornish about their experiences on Lingo Pictures series “Erotic Stories”, screening and Q&A with Dave Cameron NZCS ACS on his experiences shooting Ablaze and In A Flash and Katie Milwright ACS on filming Sweet As.

2024 ACS National Awards for Cinematography

And hold the date – Saturday 4^th May 2024, when ACS QLD are excited to be hosting the ACS National Awards in the beautiful Ithaca Room, City Hall, Brisbane. Further details to be announced soon.
