NSW Presidents Message

Dear ACS members and friends,

What a difference a month makes.

Last month in Australia we only had around 300 cases of coronavirus now we have over 6400. The good news is that over 3,59of that number have recovered and the current daily number of recoveries is now more than the daily number of confirmed new cases, hopefully this trend continues.

The current situation hasn’t slowed your committee and is driving a whole lot of innovation starting with this months committee meeting being held via Zoom and it worked remarkably well and from what people are saying after the Coronavirus has gone Zoom meetings will be the way our industry will communicate in the future

The next innovation is this week's “drop in” featuring Zoë White ACS in conversation with Tom Gleeson which will be held via a Zoom Webinar. Zoë has been creating some really awesome work over the last few years including:
The Handmaid’s Tale
Dare Me
Westworld

We are fortunate to have her as our guest.

The webinar is being held this Thursday April 16th at 7.00 pm (AEST) so please grab a place by clicking the link below to register.
Zoë White ACS Webinar ~ Registration Link
I would also like to congratulate Ron Johanson OAM ACS and our National committee supported by all the state committees for their help to our membership by dropping the annual fees for the 20 / 21 year. Given that the vast majority of our members will be finding it difficult financially this is a great initiative and full details are attached below.

Also listed below are FAQs re “JobKeeper payments” while this maybe of some help given the complexity of who qualifies I would recommend that you conduct your own enquires as well.

On behalf of the ACS I would like to wish you and yours all the best for your health and well being.

Remember, keep a safe distance and wash your hands.
Warm regards to you all,

Calvin Gardiner ACS

Some good news re MEMBERSHIP from the ACS President:

Dear ACS Members, sponsors, colleagues and friends,

In recent days the National Executive have been in discussion regarding the potential fallout to our members due to the Coronavirus.

We feel in these extraordinary and unprecedented Coronavirus Covid-19 times that many of our members are suffering both financially and emotionally and therefore the ACS would like to offer all financial members a free membership for the 2020/2021 financial year.

If a member is unfinancial they will have to pay a minimum of one year’s membership that is currently in arrears to be eligible to receive this offer.

Thankfully each Branch has agreed to bear the cost on behalf of its members. The Branches will also still pay the National ACS Capitation fees as well as the Clubhouse and Magazine levies so that Nationally the ACS, ACS HQ and AC Magazine can continue to operate.

I cannot thank the Branches enough for their support of this very important initiative.

There could well be some who feel they do not need this assistance as they have the capacity to pay their membership fee. If you are one of those member’s I say thank you for your support and generosity of spirit and ask you to contact your Branch treasurer to let them know that you are willing to pay your membership fee for 2020/2021 year as usual.

Unfortunately, we cannot extend this offer to new members, so they will be required to pay the current advertised membership fees. After all we are rewarding our current financial members for their continued loyalty and support.

Please remain assured that your Society is very mindful that there will be many who will be disadvantaged by the Coronavirus and we hope to assist by this initiative.
