SPECIAL NATIONAL AWARDS Announcement Edition
with corrections & apologies for error in particular to Roger Lanser ACS
National President Message
The ACS held it’s 2020 AGM online via Zoom this year due to the Covid -19 virus.
This was on the Sunday following the successful ACS National Awards for Cinematography, also held via Zoom.
The AGM discussed many relevant items across the board including - the potential sale of our National Headquarters to enable us to find premises that will enable us to offer more diverse usable spaces and facilities for our members; the success and reputation of AC Magazine; our ongoing efforts to improve gender parity within the Society; the importance of the wellbeing of our valued sponsors in the current economic climate; and of course election of Office Bearers among many other matters.
I was again elected as National President, a role that I have held now for 13 years. Ernie Clark ACS, also in the position for 13 years, was re-elected Vice President along with Erika Addis from Queensland now in her third year.
Mylene Ludgate was re elected as our National Treasurer, with Ernie Clark ACS as her Assistant. Calvin Gardiner ACS stood down as National Secretary with Ben Allan ACS elected as the new National Secretary, and Velinda Wardell ACS continuing as Assistant Secretary. A note of thanks to Calvin Gardiner ACS for his diligence and input to the Society. Calvin will continue as the NSW Branch President.
The ACS will continue to grow, and to foster and support our members and industry, whenever and wherever possible. In compliance with current restrictions on travel and face to face meetings, this support will continue via Zoom and Skype.
Congratulations to Victorian member Con Filippidis who was the lucky winner of the Panasonic GH5S camera, lens and card package. Our thanks to Rob Myers and Mathew Alexander from our National sponsor Panasonic.
Also, a huge thanks to Mel Atherton and Tim Schumanns at Blackmagicdesign for the generous camera package prize to NSW member Tim Tregoning ACS as the recipient of the Gold Tripod in the Commercials: National/International category.
Blackmagicdesign have generously provided this additional prize for a number of years and we thank them for their support. Please contact me and we will organise delivery to you both.
The National Awards is the pinnacle for the ACS members, and there is nothing better than the reward you receive by being recognised by your peers, it is without doubt, the best pat on the back you can receive. It is also such a great thing for me to witness the ACS Awards at every level and see the looks on the faces of the various recipients. So rewarding especially for me as the President of this august Society. Heartiest congratulations to all the nominees and the recipients, along with our ACS sponsors..

Camera Covid Protocol guide
Hi everyone.
The camera safety document is at a place where those of us working on it feel it can be shared among camera crew as a general guide. The MEAA safety committee will be taking from it what they need and putting it within their overall film industry guide which will be completed soon I believe.
This document will continue to exist though as a hopefully useful guide to anyone, (beyond camera department even) that may like to refer to it, or create their own guides from it. We still welcome feedback or suggestions but for now we will only share with camera department generally. We think it is something that could be shared with others as a reference also in the future, particularly with the questions / concerns section which may help guide productions on things they may need to address or think about. Those sections may help those of you navigating new contracts also.
Hope you are all well.
Regards
