Message from the President

Greetings friends and colleagues,

It has been a very busy June with us attending Cinegear and the InternationalmCinematography Summit in Los Angeles, and my thanks to Andrew Hyde and Roger Lanser ACS for all your assistance and support. Also, a big thank you to Mylene Ludgate who is the main person responsible for finding the budget that enables us to take part in these events and fly the ACS flag. Mylene has been a little under the weather after recent surgery, but the SA Branch have gone all out and invested in a special ambulatory device, which we have a photo of. Get well soon Myles.

Cinegear was a fantastic event and it was great to catch up with so many friends and members who now live and work in the USA. Our ACS Booth 131A from memory, was a meeting poiint for so many and I only hope we can continue the new found tradition of the ACS @ CINEGEAR into the future. Congratulations to Tom Waugh and Chris Fox from IGNITE DIGI who as well as having an ever crowded booth, also were successful in the Technical Awards that were presented as part of the show.

Fathers Office venue for the ACS Beer n’ Burgers night.

One of the many highlights was the ACS Burger n’ Beer evening at Fathers Office in Culver City. The original suggestion came from Michelle Pizanis and it was embraced wholeheartedly by so many. It was great to Dean and Annie Semler, just fantastic!! Along with Barry Wilson ACS, Andrew Hyde, Jasmine Lord, Ross Berryman ACS, David & Learna Knight, David Connell ACS, Peter Moss ACS ASC, Judd Overton, Denson Baker ACS, Sue Greenshields, Sean Dooley, Ann Murtha and Steve Arnold ACS, Rod Hardy and so many, many more that made this a real night to remember. I am reliably informed that the last group were asked to leave at around 1.00pm. Go figure!!! I am still getting used to the American tradition of tipping…one day perhaps.

Enjoy my rather long, but detailed Summit report and should you have any questions, please contact me.

Until next time
Ron Johanson OAM ACS
National President
