NATIONAL E-NEWS - SEPTEMBER 2021
From the President.

Warmest greetings ACS members, colleagues and sponsors,

The 2021 ACS State &Territory Awards for Cinematography season is rapidly approaching, with the Awards presentations dates and locations, obviously subject to COVID RESTRICTIONS but currently as follows:

SA & WA: Saturday, 27th October @ Australian Wine Centre, Adelaide
NSW & ACT: Saturday, 3rd November 2018  @ SMC Conference Centre Sydney
QLD: Saturday, 17th November 2018  @ Moda Events, Portside Hamilton Qld
VIC & TAS: Saturday, 24th November 2018  @ Collingwood Town Hall, Collingwood.

As soon as the Awards bookings are open you will be advised. Obviously, it’s difficult to know whether we’ll be able to meet in person for our various Awards presentations but all venues are on standby and ready to go. I think it will ultimately depend on vaccine targets, so jump in and we may just be in a position to share a cold one together.

The ACS continues to work with other Guilds and Associations in the Australian Screen Industry Group, and recently contributed to a document submitted to the Senate enquiry regarding amendments to the Producer Offset and here is a link to that submission - VH ASIG Submission to Treasury Law Amendments Aug 2021

We thank our Guild and Industry partners for their ongoing work on this, and we are now considering making our Group name; Australian Screen Industry Guilds and Associations.

ABC BACKSTORY

"I am a rarity," says operations specialist Tamara Penniket, who works for ABC News in Canberra.

"I am the only female camera operator in Parliament House.

"I was the first woman in 17 years to work in the role in a full-time capacity for the ABC and, in the history of the Australian Press Gallery, only a small number of women have worked as camera operators across all networks."
