From the National President

Greetings and salutations to members, friends and sponsors,
Many of you know that the ACS is a full member of the International Federation of Cinematographer Societies IMAGO.
But it wasn’t always so. Former National Presidents Ted Rayment ACS and Ron Johanson OAM ACS sought for the ACS to join many years ago, and at first only Associate membership was allowed. But, after some years of discussion, IMAGO agreed to grant the ACS and other non- European societies full membership. This was followed by Ron joining the board and also serving as Co Vice-President.
This work ensured that ACS was recognised by Cinematographer Societies everywhere, and now enjoys worldwide respect.
It is very fitting that Ron Johanson is now to attend the 30th anniversary celebrating IMAGO and its members, go well Ron.
And now is the time to book your tickets for the 53rd ACS National Awards for Cinematography - when the best of the best work will be celebrated and awarded.
It’s a wonderful night of catching up with dear friends and making new ones, book now, and see you there.
Go well and stay well everyone,
Erika Addis
ACS National President

30th Anniversary of IMAGO
|
|
The International Federation of Cinematographers, IMAGO, is celebrating its 30th Anniversary with a three-day celebration in Rome that will take place at the historic Cinecittà Film Studios. Considered to be the hub of Italian cinema, Cinecittà is also the home of the Italian Society of Cinematographers.
“More than 50 Cinematographer Societies from around the world will be in attendance,” says ACS Delegate Ron Johanson OAM ACS, who will be travelling to Rome to attend the anniversary celebrations and the general assembly.
"This singularly important international forum provides an opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss new initiatives and emerging technologies, which is vitally important to all those working as a collective in the film industry. After a three year absence, the opportunity to reconnect with industry colleagues and friends from many societies around the globe is an absolute bonus.”
IMAGO has 51 member societies, whose purpose is to champion high standards of cinematography and collaboration around the world.
