Please consider others during this time of COVID-19 as it appears that it could be with us for some time. Should anyone be feeling anxiety or mental stress please reach out, we are here to listen and support.

Ron Johanson OAM ACS

PLEASE NOTE Regarding the AWARDS

The ONLY method of entry this year will be by upload. NO physical entries are to be accepted

POSTCARD FROM KIERAN FOWLER NZCS ACS

G’day Mate,

Hope all is well in your world.

Thought I’d get in touch and keep the ACS in the loop as I’ve been nominated for an MTV VMA award for best cinematography in a music video for my work on 5 Seconds of Summer ‘Old Me'

It’s probably one of the most/if not the most prestigious US awards you could get for work in music videos and I’m fairly sure this is the first time a Aussie/Kiwi DP has been nominated for this. You may need to fact check me on that haha, but from looking at past winners/nominations I couldn’t see any names.

Anyway I thought it may be worth mentioning!

All the best,

Kieran

Hello All - PREPARE FOR SUBMITTING INTO THE STATE & TERRITORY AWARDS

ACS Awards open for entry August 1st until August 21st. Entry to members will be via login in to their accounts and using the online entry form. Entries will be uploaded to Digital Pigeon. They must meet the Terms and Conditions tech requirements.

* The ONLY method of entry this year will be by upload. NO physical entries are to be accepted.

In exceptional circumstances entry may be permitted on SVOD such as Netflix but the member must seek permission from the branch beforehand and it must be the only available way of screening their entry, not due to convenience.

Today we spoke to SilverTrak to arrange our awards judging. We are very excited to have been offered their new Media room 3 platform which offers many great features.Thank you Christian Christianson at Silver Trak!
ACS will be provided a Media Room which will be administered by me. Each awards branch will be given their own “project” with a user profile and password which only they can access. I will provide you details of this very soon. Each branch will need to have someone to manage and upload to this project.

The projects will be named with the branch names, this year being:
1.        ACT
2.       NSW
3.  VIC/TAS
4.    SA/WA
5.          NT
6.       QLD
Once each branch has uploaded all their entries prior to judging, their judging panel can be provided with a secure login and password so they can stream the entries and carry out their judging. More on that closer to the judging dates.  Choose your Chair of Judges early. Secure your judging panel early! 3 from your branch, 2 from other branches. They will need to watch the entries online on the best possible monitor they can use privately. Scores will need to be collated by the Chair of Judges securely and confidentially.

Any questions, contact Warwick on the below email link
WField@cinematographer.net.au

Entry is open to all current financial members of the Society. Non-members may enter the Awards, provided the entrant joins the society and pays membership fees prior to their entry being accepted for judging.

Entries are accepted from August 1 to CoB August 21, with online entry forms on the ACS website. Entries must have been completed within two years of the Awards' date.

A panel of 5 ACS Accredited members judge for each host state and at least two of the panel members are not from the host state.

ACS member Gold winners from each State and Territory Awards automatically progress to the National Awards for Cinematography, which are held generally in April/May the following year in a capital city (on a rotational basis).

Thanks to Warwick Field ACS and Ernie Clark ACS for their diligence and perseverance in the development of our ACS Awards categories.

We have received several inquiries to make Custom Gobos for the COVID-19 crisis..  Some gobos encouraged communities to stay strong, some thanked their local health professionals, and others were simply a reminder to just stay home.  Below is some we've made already so let us know if you have a design in mind.
