The ACS is seeking DPs to come on board and support the Credit Maker program.
As you may know, the Screen Australia program, Credit Maker, is a new kind of scheme and quite different from previous mentor and internship/shadow schemes. It is a placement scheme where selected, qualified female cinematographers will be mentored and supervised by the DP who is shooting a television drama series. The Credit Maker cinematographer will then, under their supervision, shoot an episode of the series and thereby attain a break-through TV credit.
The ACS assessment panel for Credit Maker met in May and has shortlisted nine strong applicants. Their experience ranges from early established to having multiple features to their credit. Once we have productions lined up with producer and DP ready to support Credit Maker, then we will introduce them to the candidates for evaluation and selection.
If you have a series coming up this year where there may well be the opportunity to take on a Credit Maker cinematographer, please contact myself or Bonnie Elliott ACS to discuss.
I look forward to hearing from you.

A big shout out to the teams at Sony and Lemac who hosted such a successful night that featured the new Sony Venice 2 camera at ACS HQ.
Heath McKinley from Sony and Tim Jordin from Lemac presented to a full house of members all keen to see the differences and improvements this new camera offers them. Backed up by their respective teams Heath and Tim were able to answer many questions our members had as well as give members an opportunity to get hands on with the new camera and a couple of new full frame Zoom lenses.
With an adjusted Dual ISO feature (ISO800 & ISO3200), a large 8K sensor with over sampling capabilities, 8 built in ND filters and the ability to record X-OCN internally the Venice 2 opens up even more shooting options.
It was fantastic to have Sony Head of Digital Imaging, Jun Yoon, amongst the crowd along with his product specialist team. Also fantastic to see Managing Director of Lemac, Sue Greenshields, along with National Head of Lemac Rentals, Tim Jordin and the NSW rentals & sales team.
In true ACS spirit, members and sponsors were able to chat and mingle whilst learning about another great new camera now available in Australia.

Brady O'Sullivan
American Pavillion's Emerging
Filmmaker Showcase
Former ACS CineKid Brady O’Sullivan this week attended the Cannes Film Festival.
Brady’s Yr 12 HSC major project film "Sydney 2078" was recently selected as 1 of 7 High School films as a Finalist in the American Pavilion’s Emerging Filmmaker Showcase shown during the Festival.
Brady's selection included an invitation to attend The Cannes Festival and its master classes, industry panel discussions, the film marketplace, plus attending all the Festival's film screenings he can manage.
While Brady has had some success with his film being selected for a number of festivals and competitions, this is by far his biggest achievement.
Since 1997 this prestigious competition has showcased the works of the next generation of filmmakers.
This year 33 short films were selected, in various categories, by a panel of industry judges and shown in the Roger Ebert Conference Center at The American Pavilion to invited guests attending The Festival. It's a festival within a festival at the most important event on the international film calendar.
Although Brady's entry didn't win he was kept busy meeting people, making contacts from around the world and attending panel discussions and master classes. He saw as many films as he was able to and was thrilled to be part of the Filmmakers Q&A.
ACS members and Sponsors are invited to catch up with the latest from the Panavision newsletter including "The Making of the Last Duel" and "House of Gucci" along with many Filmmaker Conversations.
Lemac Film and Digital now has available for rental the new FUJINON HK 75-400mm and HK18-85mm Premier Series zoom lenses. The lenses are T2.0 and T2.8 - very respectable speeds indeed.
Lemac national rentals manager Tim Jordan says “A big part of people’s hesitations when considering a zoom lens is the speed of the lens and the way they feel in comparison to a prime. FUJINON could have called these Variable Primes, as they are very fast even by some prime lens standards. That said and with their minimal breathing and gentle bokeh, their pictures combat the stereotype and really do look amazing. In short, these HK Premier lenses are perfect for tracking vehicle work, drama, TVC or even live events. They are by all standards a fantastic offering that Lemac is proud to offer our customers.”
